Hi Deb.

My sister just recently finished a navy scarf and asked me about adding tassels/fringe and I found this link that was very straight forward. Unfortunately can't tell you whether it is as easy as it looks as I keep forgetting to ask my sister how it went....lol. Anyway, here is the link...and I hope it helps.  :))

Hi Deb, just came back from holiday and saw your note about joining Special Diets .  Welcome !   As you may have noticed not too much activity on the discussion but perhaps we can start one :-)

I have a friend on oxygen.  She now has a portable machine ( as well as the one for home ) so she is able to get out and about.  She has COPD (chonic obstructive pulmonary disease )

I am also a crocheter.....not a knitter !!!

Looking forward to chatting with you.

Linda

Hi Deb.  Yes I am sure those squares, sent altogether, perhaps with a note explaining they make up to blanket size will be just FINE.  As for discussions...I know our Chat Room isn't really up but if you click on Forum up top it will take you to the discussions page.  So will this link:

I know what it's like to work with an old dino computer, they can indeed take ages to do things but they plod along.  I'm lucky right now to have a fast one since our oldest daughter went halvers with us on buying it and it was already on sale price.  Hope this helps some, I hear you about the computer...sometimes I'd get up, go make a cup of herbal tea and return to see it had finally done what I asked it to.  That's super about the squares though.  So much productivity.  I am POSITIVE they will be used and put together into a blanket for someone, certain of it.  Just mention they should be used together, not split up with other squares as in total they're a blanket but they're not 8x8's.  They so literally have nothing over there, not even spare magazines (like what clogs up doctor waiting rooms over here) to cut out pictures for the kids from, even garbage bags, if we wrap the squares in them and then send them over, get re-used promptly, sometimes holes are cut in them so they make an impromptu rain poncho for a child.  So believe me, the squares will make people smile. :)

Talk again soon eh?

Hi Debbie.  Yes I got your message just fine. :)  I think that's great to re-purpose your squares.  I know we're supposed to be metric here in Canada but I've always stayed Imperial (inches). 24 cm is???  As for whether it's Mum or Mom here in Canada we're kind of betwixt and between, abit like the raccoon stretched between the boat and the dock. (I've been there, done that, got verrry wet)  Sometimes when emailing my kids I write Mum, sometimes Mom,  Same with spelling things.  In England it's honour, USA it's honor, no "u" in so many words like neighbour and I always get flagged by the spell-checker for misspelling when I put in the "u".  So I don't know, half the time I zig over to USA ways of speaking and spelling and half the time English.  People here say I've got an English accent but my British relatives say I've got a Canadian accent which puts me squarely around Greenland doesn't it?   Heh heh heh....my kids keep threatening to compile a list of all my sayings, which include Crikey/Englishisms and other Canadianisms, like eh? Can't win, still between the boat and the dock eh?  ;)

Welcome to KAS, Deb from around the world in snowy Canada.  Spring will arrive eventually!  Glad to have you with us and while right now we want slightly larger than baby blankets so the toddlers don't grow out of them and get cold again, I'm positive your crocheting skills will be warmly welcomed.  There's many "happy hookers" on KAS, like me, plus a wide assortment of "knit wits" and even some sewers who do the most amazing dolls and fleece hats.  Anything to help and warm the little ones eh?  Good to meet you. :)

I find KAS such a rewarding cause to be involved in and I hope you enjoy it too.  Do check out the New Member Guide which is found by clicking "Main Page" in the header above.  To reach the Discussions just click Forum above. Any questions just PM me. :)  So, welcome to Knit A Square! Blankets and hats and sweaters direct from our hands to their hearts, a win-win.
