Hi Rachel. Second attempt to reply...first one failed earlier today. For my regular squares I cast on 35 stitches for 8 ply yarn using 4 mm needles. For my diagonals I cast on 2 sritches...knit them, then in every row thereafter I increase 1 stitch at the beginning only of every row, by knitting into the front and back of the first stitch. Continue til you have 44 stitches. Knit 1 row. Then commence decreasing at the beginning of each row...knit first stitch, slip 2 nd stitch knit 3 rd stitch, then pass the slipped stitch over. Continue til 2 stitches remain, knit 2 together. ( ps.... I think there are a lot of neater knitters than me)
The twisted rib - k2|p2 + p1 - like my last handwarmers. I started with 60 stitches but it looks small to me. This is my first attempt to make a hat. I think my yarn is not thick enough, but is pink!!
I am a knitter also Rebecca and learned how to crochet over the last 10 years or so. I never took any classes, just self taught with lots of trial and error, but now I enjoy both. Your knit hats are great. I like the patterns and yarn you use.
Hi Rachel, thanks for the welcome. I've been through Germany (on my way to Austria) many years ago, but know very little of it! I have been to Kenya in Africa and have considered going to South Africa, but never actually made it there!
Hi hon. I wish it was my hamster! I had several hamsters when a child. My favorites were Priscilla, a white one with red eyes, a real snuggle bunny and Sandy, a light caramel colored one who loved running up inside my blouse sleeves and popping out at my neckline! My cats would loooove it if I had some mobile crunch n' munch for them to "play" with. Yikes. Mind you I did have a geriatric budgie named Princie that the dog and cats wouldn't go near...he ruled the roost and pecked any tender noses or toes that got too close. What a character that bird was. Now, as for the hamster in my picture, I have sometimes felt as chubby as he looks! I hope I'm slimming down some...and I do love petunias but so do the deer here so they're just a fond memory. :) Good to talk to you!

Thanks Rachel, I enjoyed making the squares but so wish my sewing skills were better:))
Thanks Rachel. It's almost finished. I might add a pom-pom ??
Here is close up of the yarn - pink & lavender -. It's pretty and soft.
Cheers. / diana
No yet . I thought it was too small but Christine J. who is guiding me through it, says that looks OK, almost like hers. Here is my hat in progress:

Hi Rachel,
I accept with pleasure. / diana
