Rachel D has not received any gifts yet
Well for one thing I'm always smiling, and love to put it on peoples faces. And second I devote much of my time giving back to the community. I help in a life skills classroom (children with special needs) I am a volunteer at the special Olympics, I tutor voluntary , volunteer at a hospital, play Christmas carols on my oboe at soup kitchens during the holidays, and I knit and crochet for charaties. So yes I am a very busy teenager :3. But I love being a teen :3. I love being with friends, play sports, skateboard, read, and BE LAZY ^_^… so if a picture is worth 1000 words, then my profile pic says it all. I painted the ball of yarn on a shell so it embraces my creativity. Well enjoy and feel free to add me I am a friendly person (or am I?)
The Donate button provides 2 options:
Because of PayPal/banking fees, KAS asks that your donation be 5USD [or more]. Anything less, means your donation is eaten up with fees. Thank you!
Our goal is to remove the monthly deficit that Ronda and her team have to deal with. You can:
1. Make a donation whenever you are able.
2. Sign up for an ongoing monthly donation (subscription).
3. Shop at the KasShop!

"CreateCare Global has set itself two tasks. The first is physical: to bring hope, support and comfort to children for whom poverty and loss are everyday tormentors. The second, and in our view equally important, is to spread the message to the world."
Our thanks to CreateCare Global for supporting the Square Circle Forum and helping to spread the wonderful work that KAS does.

Welcome, Rachel, from suburban Philadelphia, not so far away from you in NJ. So glad you've joined us!
Hello Rachel, so glad you have joined us. Keeping the children in South Africa warm has brought together a world-wide group of caring knitters and crocheters.
When you are ready to send your parcel, visit both these sites for important information. . Click Here for tips and here for postage rates.
Once you have sent your parcel you can check the squares lists. Every month, we list the squares, beanies and tops that have arrived in South Africa. To find the ‘Squares lists’ please click the ‘Discussions’ tab [see tabs above] then on “Tallies/Item Count” for an up-to-date listing. We also have a ‘Drive to Fill Ronda’s KASvan’ with squares and would appreciate if you would add to this challenge.
We have a challenge for each month. This is a fun way to try new colours, ideas or patterns revolving around the theme. If you wish, you may create something new and different......it could be making a plain square using a new colour, a different stitch or trying a totally new way of knitting/ crocheting. An 8”/20cm square is the perfect size for experimenting.
This month we are celebrating Christmas ! Yes, it is a ‘bit’ early but Ronda would like time to prepare the blankets before the holiday season arrives. We will be making squares with a festive theme: Christmas trees, reindeer, bells for example. We also need many squares in reds, greens and whites to compliment the fancy squares. We would love to see your creations. Click here to join in the holiday spirit :-)
If you are interested in joining any of our challenges, please note: Your parcel does not need to arrive in South Africa before the end of the month. Those of us who use sea-mail find parcels take between 6-10 weeks to arrive. Whenever your parcel arrives, know it will be appreciated and that you are keeping children warm.
As always, making the basic square is a wonderful way to relax and still help the children. Plain Janes, as they are affectionately called, are the backbone of KAS. Since a blanket is created with 35 squares sent by people from around the world, squares are needed all the time.
Enjoy !
You sound like a special individual with all the giving you do; I'm so happy you found KAS! This is a great group of people from all over the world that is very helpful, loving and giving. We have come together to help keep children warm, and you can watch that happen right here on the website. It's wonderful to occasionally see one of your own squares in a blanket being given to a lonely, cold child. I see you're from NJ. I'm from TN and if you have any questions, please let one of us know, as we can usually find an answer to most questions. If possible post your finished work so we can all ooh and aah over it and again, welcome to KAS!! So glad you found us!
