Good Morning all I have just looked at the squares list and thought I had found my name, but I knew that my last parcel was sent earlier this month (June). That got me wondering how many more…Continue

Hi Elizabeth,

I saw your query on 'Latest activity' but can't find the original post so I hope you find this. I use scraps of yarn a lot and recently came across this suggestion from Rachel which I found works well http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/topics/the-magic-knot

Apart from this I usually try to make my joins at the end of a row so that the ends can be woven into the edges and then secured by the seam. Failing that I do knot in a row but make sure that I knot at least two or three inches from the ends of the yarn which I then knit in and unless the knitting pattern is very plain the join can't be seen and I'm happy that it won't unravel. Hope this helps.

Hi Elizabeth,

Many thanks for the friends request.  I see you had a problem with postage. The PO always want to send parcels by airmail, so I usually say surface mail before I hand the parcel over.  It often takes a couple of repeats but they get the message in the end.

My parcels have ranged from about £3.50 to £6.80 so far.

Happy days, Barbara

Welcome Elizabeth !  I live in Canada but we have family in Redcar so I actually know where Billingham is :-)  We have been through on our way to/from Redcar.

Have you seen the February-April challenge ?  The need is for squares to fill a bus....we have started to fill up bus # 6 !

Hi Elizabeth and welcome to KAS.  I originate from Tyneside so I try to keep up to date with North East news.  I visited Billingham about 30 years ago on a training course.  I remember staying with a lady who only had a coal fire for heat and it was only lit at night.

It was one of the coldest weeks of my life because of course it just happened to be winter.

I mainly knit jumpers with matching hats as knitting an 8" square for me seems impossible.  I've recently started crochet classes which I really enjoy.

This site seems vast and it does take time to navigate, however everyone is very friendly and helpful.

Whatever you do for KAS will be well received.  Happy knitting/crochet/sewing.

Barbara

I find UFO's (unfinished objects) the bane of my existence too and recently was able to finish several unfinished squares I found stashed away, plus two slipovers.  Great feeling of accomplishment I must say.  I like the squares too because they're fast to do, less likely to end up in a bag in my closet "for another day". :P

Welcome Elizabeth!  So glad you joined us. The photos of the children are what get me knitting, too. I'm from suburban Philadelphia in a township called Cheltenham. We have a sister city in the UK!!
