The Donate button provides 2 options:
Because of PayPal/banking fees, KAS asks that your donation be 5USD [or more]. Anything less, means your donation is eaten up with fees. Thank you!
Our goal is to remove the monthly deficit that Ronda and her team have to deal with. You can:
1. Make a donation whenever you are able.
2. Sign up for an ongoing monthly donation (subscription).
3. Shop at the KasShop!

"CreateCare Global has set itself two tasks. The first is physical: to bring hope, support and comfort to children for whom poverty and loss are everyday tormentors. The second, and in our view equally important, is to spread the message to the world."
Our thanks to CreateCare Global for supporting the Square Circle Forum and helping to spread the wonderful work that KAS does.

Hi Andria
Happy Birthday....hope its a good one!!
Hey, Andria, that's absolutely GREAT! So happy that it worked out for you! It's fun to have both knitting and crochet to do alternately. Keeps things interesting! Hope you enjoy the grannies!
I think the idea of trying crocheting is a fabulous one! I'm new to both knitting and crocheting and thought the latter insurmountable. Then I tried the tutorial on crocheting on the Lands End website - it was SUPER clear. That helped me with straight-line crocheting and soon I was churning out squares faster than ever. (I may be wrong, but I think crocheting produces squares more rapidly than knitting.) Here's that link: http://www.landsend.com/feelgood/#
Go to the videos section on that welcome page and select the crochet video.
However, I kept seeing all these beautiful, colorful granny squares on the KAS website and couldn't start a granny for ANYTHING till I visited the step-by-step NON-video tutorials on the Little Tin Bird blog at the recommendation of a KAS member. At last it all made sense and I've been churning out the grannies ever since. It's so much fun! Here's the link: http://www.littletinbird.co.uk/?page_id=403

We run a challenge each month. For the next three months it is all about squares. We have a grand total of 55,900 squares we are trying to achieve and would love you to participate.
Don't forget to post photographs of your work. We have an awesome gallery of the work of the KAS community which is really inspiring.
Did you receive the latest ezine? If not you can view it here: http://www.knit-a-square.com/Square_Circle-backissues.html. Follow the blog: www.allfororphans.com for a different perspective on why we need to look out for these children. And for precise details about the project, visit www.knit-a-square.com
Some of our members further support KAS by making a small monthly donation through Paypal (top left hand corner). This is invaluable help as it ensures we can continue to ensure that your work is speedily distributed to the most needy children in South Africa. We are deeply grateful for any donation we receive, be it monetary or squares to help the orphans. Thank you.

P.S. I have a sister named Andrea (with an "e") who is doing mission work in Africa.
Thanks for "friending" me. I've enjoyed your posts up to now, so it's great to get to "meet" you in person!
I live in a suburb of Philadelphia called Radnor, not far from Villanova University, if you've ever heard of that! :-D
I'm new to knitting, even newer to crocheting, and very excited about producing a square a day. Finished today's, by the way.
But what I'm most working on this week is actually sending the squares to Soweto! Wish me luck!
Donna
