Melinda, you make a normal granny square, but between each row, with black or other contrasting color of your chose, <1 single crochet, chain 2> in each chain 1 space between your 3 double crochets. For the corners, <1 single crochet, chain 3, 1 single crochet>.
Ooooh, I love the softer subtle colors...I've always had a soft spot for stained glass windows and this really does capture the feel of them....thanks Robin for sharing it with us! A vest or blanket made in this would be amazing, not making suggestions to you, just saying it's getting my own imagination going.
