Thanks for the link Karen...I don't know how I missed that as it's such a nice looking hat and a good uncomplicated pattern. Have more than enough oddments to put to good use!

Hi Anne, I have used 2 stands of 8 ply on 6.5mm needles. I believe 8 ply is the same as dk. The pattern is Wendy's really easy chunky knit beanie. Link below: You should give it a go!
