Fabulous!
Oh how clever and creative!! Beautiful square Sharon, well done!
What a special square, Sharon....and as you say, all your little additions bring it all together to make this stunner!!
Be careful what you wish for, Jeanne....I think I heard them say on the weather report tonight that our state capital reached over 37 degrees celcius and was the hottest April day on record for the city. I think we may have reached a few degrees lower, but still plenty warm enough!!!
Another winner Sharon!
Thanks to everyone for their kind comments.
P.Jeanne Haessler is exactly right -- the square is single crochet stitches with looped chains for the waves. I was following a pattern I found online for this square until I did the first row of waves. That 1st row looked more like frills than waves so I experimented in successive rows with other wave patterns. I've found that it is easy to make squares that are girly, but much more difficult (at least for me) to make things boys will like. I thought this square would appeal to boys, as long as the waves weren't too frilly and girly. But the square was pretty bland and boring until the sunny yellow border was added and the gulls stitched on ... then it all came together. Isn't it amazing how those little details finish off the look?
Oh what a super textural idea for the waves, Sharon, I really like it and it's so simple to do. So clever! Our seagulls have returned, despite all the snow and I love yours winging over the waves. Grace this is crochet, single crochet block with looped chains across the rows for the waves. I really like this! Summer hurry up will ya? ;)
This is so lovely and just like a sea scene. Is is knitted or crocheted?
