My first blanket in mainly red. For the "wheel spoke circles" I used yarn of my really never ending small bits of left over yarn from former projects. (Sounds familiar to you?) Cheerfull circles surrounded with red, green and purple. Once I have joined all squares, I love to make a nice edging around a blanket. This edge was made in linen stitch and the final row in crabstitch, which gives a sturdy edge.
The pattern of the wheel spoke circle (wheel spoke square) is in the KAS pattern book: Here is the link to the tutorial:

Unfortunately I haven't been able to send this blanket to SA, but one day it will find its way to SA together with many more squares that I made and 20 pairs of hand warmers.

Thank you so much Karen. How little bits of yarn can inspire one...in this case me :)) Always a challenge to find out how far I can get with the left-over bits....xo

Absolutely perfection Anneke.  I love your blankets!

That crab stitch can be a bit challenging, too.
