Thanks for the info Valerie, it looks lovely whatever the stitch anyway :-)

Ah yes, the sc/dc combo, I like the name Griddle Stitch, it fits. It's a stitch I love too, you can even make skirts from it, it doesn't give you any "peekaboo" moments!  I love this yarn and sure can see why you can't stop using it.  What is it's name if you have it?  It's beautiful.

Another stunner!  And unisex too

Hi Wendy. I call this stitch griddle stitch. It's a variation of seed or granite stitch. I use the sc +dc combination usually. I know that sometimes people use sc+ hdc or even sc+ ch1. I prefer using sc/dc combination as I find it gives a nicer texture. It crochets up very quickly and with variegated yarn gives a striking effect. As I explain to everyone, the merit for the colours doesn't come from me, but from the beautiful yarn that I found in a local store. It's so nice to use that I just can't stop.

Love both your vests Valerie, gorgeous colours and pattern.  Is it crocheted seed stitch? I am going to try a square in seed stitch soon, see how I go with something a little different.
