These are the 14 spools of tapestry wool donated by an Aubusson weaver
Yes, it was a magnificent donation. The plus is that I got to visit with a lovely craftsman who, although retired, still makes beautiful tapestries. He has a work area with 2 really old wooden looms and spools and skeins of wool neatly stored in special shelves that go from floor to ceiling. Pam's trying to talk me into recounting all this in the Members Personal blog. I'll try to do it, but the next few weeks are going to be a little hectic.
Beautiful colours, Valerie. What a donation!
I thought my find on ebay of 8 cones for 99p was good but that is great if it is donated.
There are some lovely colours amongst these spools, they're making my fingers twitch. Having just finished making, like you, some squares from 'oddments' - in my case dozens of little tapestry wool skeins - using the Magic Knot the idea of knitting from one long cone is very appealing.
Valerie, I placed a message about these on the previous discussion 'I need Help" discussion - might have a solution.
I hope you find or have found a way to use this bounty, Valerie....the colours look awesome....and there is SO much of it.
