Welcome to Knit A Square from the middle of Canada July Jules! Sorry I’m a bit late with this, my health’s not been brilliant lately. Am I ever brilliant? Ahem, I’m here and sincere now. Greetings! Please feel free to visit Discussions or join Groups to talk about things or go to Photos to see what some members are up to. These are in a line on top of the page, just click on them. As for the photos, talk about yarn artistry! Try not to be intimidated, I’m a plain square person myself but it’s lovely to view the more artsy squares. KAS is a very positive group and all these squares and sweaters and hats etc. go to help the poorest of the poor, the South African AIDS/HIV orphans who are parentless and being cared for by many good and kind folk in often desperate surroundings. Our crocheted, knitted and sewn items can help give a child hope for the future because they are not forgotten, plus warmth and a smile and often a toy to cuddle. Glad you’re with us!
Welcome to the forums and to Knit a square! If you have any postage or knitting questions etc there's a spot on the forms for that. We'd love to see pics of your work! Cherry
Hello July, so glad you have joined us. Keeping the children in South Africa warm has brought together a world-wide group of caring knitters and crocheters.
When you are ready to send your parcel, visit both these sites for important information. Click Here for tips and here for postage rates.
Once you have sent your parcel you can check the squares lists. Every month, we list the squares, beanies and tops that have arrived in South Africa. To find the ‘Squares lists’ please click the ‘Discussions’ tab [see tabs above] then on “Tallies/Item Count” for an up-to-date listing. We also have a ‘Drive to Fill Ronda’s KASvan’ with squares and would appreciate if you would add to this challenge.
Hi July! Welcome to KAS from Knoxville, TN!! Glad you're jumping in. Perfect! This is a very friendly site full of warm and loving folks who are all happy to help keep children warm through their knitting and crocheting skills. If you have any questions, just ask, as someone will know the perfect answer. Look forward to seeing your work! I hope you'll post photos of some or all of it, as we all love to see what others are coming up with. So glad you've joined us!
Welcome to KAS from over here in wet, windy and chilly Western Australia.
I have left you a couple of messages here and there, so hopefully you will catch up with some along the way...lol.
Do you knit, crochet, or perhaps both?
I don't know how much 'site seeing' you have done so far, but just thought to mention that you may like to check out the 'helpful hints' tab at the top of this page...it may help you get started and hopefully answer a few questions you may have. Any other queries please ask....we love to help each other out. Another great place to visit is the photo section, where you can see what other KASers have been making. Just click on 'photos' also at the top of the page.
IF you like a challenge, the one for this month is "A Celebration of Africa and the Life of Nelson Mandela". Tomorrow, being Nelson Mandela Day, we are urging all KASers, where time permits, to knit/crochet for 67 minutes or longer and create a square in his honour.....and where possible to post it in the photo section and/or in the above discussion. The discusson can be found in the list on the 'main page'.
Once again, welcome, and thank you for becoming 'one of us'.
