This month we embrace all the things that come are under the African sky.

Children...

Land...

Monuments...

People...

...and the Animals.

Now is the time to be creative with flags, animals, beadwork designs, instruments, cloth, housing styles and so much more from the continent of Africa.

Let us celebrate together, all that Africa has to show the world, and wrap the children in a warm cozy blanket.

A perfect blanket for South African children…so neatly stitched together and the vibrant colours of our flag it’s fabulous Patricia.

Gosh!  I didn't even realize that the colors were all the colors of the South Africa flag.   Now that I know that, this blanket is even better!  Great work, Patricia.

I crocheted seven complete strips and then sewed the strips together to cut down on the sewing up!

A beautifully crafted blanket Patricia, well planned and a joy to see :))

Patricia, on my opinion all colours you used in your blanket are very typical for this continent. They are so bright and vivid . A beautiful blanket!

Your blanket is GORGEOUS, Patricia!! Your colourways of the African flag colours is superb!!

I love the mix of stripes and solid colours...just so bright and cheery.  :))

Patricia... This... Is.... A... Beauty!! ✔️✔️✔️

I don't know why, but for some reason, I always think of big, bold, yellow flowers when I think of Africa.   I wonder where that idea came from?

Anyway, here is my flower blanket, with COM yellow flowers.

I am in awe of this beauty Sharon.  Lots of yellow flowers on the continent for sure.  The blues remind be of the different water sources within Africa.  The double squares remind me of the mountains and the pyramids.

You have certainly outdone yourself with the keeper!

A real beauty, Sharon. I love that Amy sees the triangular squares as pyramids and mountains. Was that your intention or has she added a new dimension to your design?

Amy has added a completely new dimension, Patricia.   I was thinking of the stripey parts as zebras, and the yellow worked with the flowers.   As soon as Amy mentioned mountains and pyramids, I thought, "of course".    Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could learn what the children think of our blankets?   I imagine I could learn a lot from them.   But mostly, I hope we inspire them to think creatively, and change their minds about the images as time moves along, always coming up with new ideas.

PS  If you notice a difference in those squares, the top two are Tunisian Simple Stitch, and the bottom two are the knitted Multidirectionl Diagonal.

You are soooo crafty!
