Opening Days in the

Knit A Square Barn 2021

From this... this... this...

...ending with full shelves.

Opening day at the KAS Barn is all about opening parcels and sorting the squares.  Bundling the squares to be sewn into blankets and then preparing blankets for distributions.

We hope that 2021 will be a year of great success for KAS and all the children of South Africa that receive KAS blankets.

Thanks for adding the themes Sandra. Your blankets are exquisite.

Always a thrill to see your own creations have arrived safely.   I'm thrilled for you Sandra.   I remember too your story of the spilling wool on the pavement.... ❤️

Isn't it always the way Sandra, just when you are in a hurry things go wrong. Hope you didn't miss your bus.

Some photos from Ronda on March 9.

Each bag holds 9 blanket packs ready for the Gogos to sew.

Blankets ready to go.

Baby items packed separately.

News reported from The Barn on March 16.  Thank you Estelle for being our marvelous reporter.

Opening day Tuesday 16 March at the KASbarn.
Another productive day with beautiful blankets pouring in. The KAS van was chock-a-block with boxes and parcels. Delbert Sunél’s son was a great help to Bernard offloading the post.
Susanne Leverton I spy your coral bag in the van, we didn’t open the new post as we let it “ breath” for awhile....get rid of any nasty covid germs.
We welcomed Viv and Lindi back today, it’s been almost a year since they’ve been to the barn, and got right down to opening parcels as if they had never left.
Our very special Sunél visited us today with 5 more absolutely stunning blankets and 20 very special soft toys. Always good to have a chat Sunél!
Brenda and Nurse collected 170 blankets for Diepsloop where Brenda runs a feeding program. She’s doing an incredible job feeding hundreds of people every week!
Two gorgeous soft toys and 70 squares from Trish Gribble. We received one or two parcels from Trish every week. We all khow exactly how she packs them and that there will be 70 beautifully knitted squares and a couple of toys or hat or a set hand warmers in the parcel. I’m always amazed how so many people who knit for your group can knit the same size squares. Well done ladies!'
Mandy was there to help us today, conscientious as usual and made light work of photographing all the blankets.
Thank you Elaine and Doris for the cute doll, squares, scarf and slippers you sent us.
More adorable dolls from Ada Breeuwer from The Netherlands and striking blanket.
Other photos to enjoy...

I always admire how Ada makes her dolls in the skin tones of the children receiving them.  Thank you Ada.

Blankets right out of the box on March 16.

Surprised to see two of my blankets have arrived already (Nos. 3 and 7) - I only sent them on the 17th February. So good to see Viv and Lindi back in the Barn.

So happy for you to see some of your work arriving in The Barn.  It always make me happy.

The third one up from the bottom is one of mine.   The three orange "patches" are little woven squares which I make on a 4" square "Zoom Loom".   It makes a change from knitting but the little squares are far too thin for making blankets.   Thanks for taking the trouble to photograph everyone's work - it is lovely to see that blankets have arrived and are ready to warm up the children.

Thanks for letting us know which blanket you made Jill.  It is nice to know where they come from.

I bet the texture on those little squares are fun for little fingers.

Love the corner to corner blankets, very eyecatching.
