Opening Days in the

Knit A Square Barn 2021

From this...

...ending with full shelves.

Opening day at the KAS Barn is all about opening parcels and sorting the squares.  Bundling the squares to be sewn into blankets and then preparing blankets for distributions.

We hope that 2021 will be a year of great success for KAS and all the children of South Africa that receive KAS blankets.

Ooo, the box in the middle of the second to last photo looks like the one I posted end of October! Glad to see it has arrived safely.

Love seeing everyone's work - it always inspires me to want to do more!!

So glad your items arrived safely.  Looks like they will be revealed next week.

what amazing photos.   Everyone must have been super-charged to get through all those packages, and still have time for photos.   You are truly amazing.   Give yourselves a pat on the back for me.

Astounding opening and sorting on display again.   Thank you for showing us.     You're all terrific.   Chuffed to see more of my squares are with you, they were only posted at the beginning of this year!

It is lovely to have a look around the Barn when you can't be there in person. Love the Granny square blankets, and so many lovely toys too.

It's obvious that everyone worked very hard to get through so much mail in a working session.  Thank you, Estelle, for your running commentary as it helps us to be right there in the barn with you all.  Kudos!!

Amy’s brightly coloured blanket is stunning, as are her animal squares. Karens daisies look so sweet :))

Thank you all so much we really appreciate all of your remarks,  I  wish that I could post photos of everything we open. I’m trying to find names and parcels that we are not familiar with so that more of our contributors can spot their wonderful creations.

Estelle, you're doing a great, no, a fantastic job.  We love you for all you do.

These are blankets I made in May & June 2020. However, I've only just realised that we weren't allowed to post them for ages because of Covid. I didn't actually post these until November.

Great to see the barn so busy!

A wonderful update from Estelle for March 9.

Mandy, Ath and I spent a couple of hours yesterday sorting blankets into sizes- S M L and extra warm ones for Middleburg.
News from The KASbarn today.
There was an enormous amount of post and we seem to be catching up with parcels that were posted almost a year ago. They were mainly from Canada, Australia, France and a few from Croatia. We even got one from Japan today.
The parcel covered with duct tape is from the International Breda from The Netherlands. The pic below it is the top of the open box. Unfortunately there wasn’t time to count and sort these squares...hopefully there is a packing slip.
Ronda ( no pic today🙁) photographed all the blankets that came in....some for shelves and some for Brenda.
Sharon Rains Bedgood aren’t you pleased that one of your parcels eventually arrived - beautiful turquoise squares and such cute hats.
Heather and Joyce brought another 30 stunning blankets- that’s more than 70 this year. Not only do the recycle squares and crochet new ones but Heather has embroider stars and stripes onto plain black squares. Your group Misfit is amazing!
Liz was about hide her face with her mask...but I was quicker!
Ath opened 3 more parcels from Pam Zimmerman - beautiful squares and the cutest soy toys.
Leigh - Ann from Not A Square stunned us with her groups incredible blankets.
Linda opened your parcel Wendy Hison from Australia. We love your blue blanket with matching hand warmers and beanies.
Sue was so excited to find these beautifully packed and sized squares and cute cuddly toys with big eyes from Susan O’Brien. Another Australian parcel.
Ath showing us four of Sandra Jones’s incredible blankets...more Australian masterpieces.
We love these warm squares from Jill Lea from France. Do you see your blue IKEA bag under my table, 4 more bundles all ready to stitch together and a fabulous Christmas blanket.
Andreja 3 of your boxes have finally arrived. We are holding 3 of your blankets but all will be photographed next week and hopefully the contents of the other two boxes.
Ath with one of the blankets she joined this week.
Thank you Valerie for the memory square for Anne’s blanket and all the other beautiful squares you sent.
I’d say that there is still a bit of post to open....
Our wonderful reporter...Estelle

Thanks ever so much for all involved in the opening, sorting and photographing of all this mail.   Incredible!! ❤️

"CreateCare Global has set itself two tasks. The first is physical: to bring hope, support and comfort to children for whom poverty and loss are everyday tormentors. The second, and in our view equally important, is to spread the message to the world."
