Opening Days in the

Knit A Square Barn 2021

From this... this... this...

...ending with full shelves.

Opening day at the KAS Barn is all about opening parcels and sorting the squares.  Bundling the squares to be sewn into blankets and then preparing blankets for distributions.

We hope that 2021 will be a year of great success for KAS and all the children of South Africa that receive KAS blankets.

Photos from Ronda on March 16 opening day.

Yay, I see some of the squares we sent last year in the 4th photo down, so that means the box arrived safely.

Thank you for always sharing photos so we can see what happens after we say goodbye to our packages at the post office.

Isn't it fun seeing our items appear in The Barn.

Estelle spoils us with magical updates every week.  We all feel like we have been there.

It certainly is!! And seeing what's going on always inspires me to want to make more (to the extent that last month the only craft work I did was knitting and crocheting squares LOL!!!)

Opening day at the KASbarn March 23.
Sue arrived jolly early with her homework all perfectly done, she very kindly took the box of about 430 squares from The International School, Breeda- The Netherlands, sized and sorted them into blanket bundles. Well done and thank you Super Star Sue. ⭐️ That’s a massive job done.
Liz with one of the beautiful blankets she brought this week...Cath you used the most beautiful colours in this blanket, the colours in the pic are much brighter. 😕
We were delighted that Sister Sue was finally able to come to the barn this morning, her first visit since Lockdown. Ronda had packed baby blankets, fleece blankets and clothes for the baby section of Christmas the Baragwanath Hospital which is the 3rd biggest hospital in the world ( hope it still is ).Thanks to all our contributors who add a little extra to their parcels for the babies and thank you Ben for bringing your wife to the barn.
Sue helped me open your lovely parcel Susanne. We loved the eleven blankets you sent, I’ve only posted your animal ones as all the others will feature on The Blanket Room.
It was great to see Leanne, Bongi and Sipho all doing an amazing job sorting squares.
Leanne has got sizing them down to a fine art.
We all enjoyed cake Liz brought us...wasn’t even for a birthday!
Sweetie brought 6 stunning blankets plus 3 beanies that she crocheted.
Sally Patterson from Bedfordshire sent us a warm cozy blanket, 2 cute dolls and the softest lamb.
Happy dance time Andreja. Athelé and Sue found 14 beautiful blankets from your team, there were plenty of oohs and ash’s from the barn. Once again only posting 2...hope all of you follow The Blanket Room.
Ath’s friend Maureen van Skalkwyk sent all these toys which were collected by her church group.
I think that there was a bit of confusion on Aths table but it all got sorted out. 🥰
Wendy brought about 6 lovely blankets that she and her mum joined from odd squares. Great to have perfectionists amongst us!
Just a taste of what is to come in The Blanket Room...

Thank you Estelle for another amazing report.

I feel like I am right there with all the action.

Great to see Wendy!  A big wave to you, Wendy and Mom.

More fabulous photos from the barn, I love to see what everyone’s up to.
ESTELLE - It was great to hear you on the podcast this week. Leanne’s doing a marvellous job with it.

What a great report.   I can feel the excitement as things gear up again.   A really fun read.

A magnificent collection!

a wonderful report I'm glad that parcels are getting through so you have blankets to distribute for the coming winter

A massive thank you to you all for taking the time and trouble to photograph the blankets and squares as they come in - we all really appreciate it! Such an inspiration and encouragement in these dark times.
