Ever wonder what happens with all that mail that arrives in South Africa?  It goes to the KAS Barn where many volunteers SORT everything out to eventually be distributed to local children.

Please check in here on a regular basis to see photos from all the activity in the KAS Barn during 2020.

Good to hear that blankets are trickling into KAS and out to children.

Fabulous news and wonderful photographs ❤️

Wow - such bright and jolly toys, hats, hand warmers and squares - a sight to cheer anyone up!

We still cannot send packages from the U.S. but rest assured the ladies at Clear Lake Methodist in Houston are still knitting and crocheting!  Everything we have collected since our shutdown here in March is now happily sitting in Kay Bergman's upstairs bedroom waiting..........and waiting..........and waiting for the go-ahead to send them off to SA.  Thanks so much for the lovely photos.  Love the many patterns, stitches, and bright colors......and the children!  Oh, the children............they are so wonderful.   And so it goes.  This too will pass!!!

So glad to hear everything is in its place.

I would love to shoot down I45 to see all the goodies.

I think we would all like to see them. Maybe Helen could post some photos?

I will be sure to post photos when we are together again, Marion, for a meeting.  That's when I usually take photos.  Not sure when that will be.

Our volunteers met up at The Barn on September 25.

Here are some thoughts from Estelle:

It was wonderful to arrive at the KASbarn this morning and find post from our overseas contributors. There were so many damaged parcels from Australia, everything that was listed on the packing slips appeared to be there but sadly so many parcels we opened today lacked them.
We found that the parcels that were secured with masking tape were not tampered with.
Nokukhanya Kkambule brought the squares she knitted to earn hours for her community service.
Beautiful blankets, toys and squares arrived and everyone who came into the barn helped us pack bags of blankets for JikaJoe. Audrey was an absolute star sealing the bags. We managed to pack 150 blankets and still have the “cake” to pack. Hopefully we will have about 350 by next Friday.
Not a single blanket left on the shelves....what a wonderful sight.

So pleased to see that my August theme ‘Rainbow Drops’ blanket has arrived already and will be heading off to JikaJoes, the children there certainly need them! Thanks to all of you lovely ladies for packing up the blankets for this special trip and thank you Athele. x

More from Estelle on September 25.

Our favourite ladies from MISFIT and NOT A SQUARE came in this morning with the most stunning blankets. Heather, Joyce and a new member of their team Theresa, helped us pack blankets for JikaJoe and gathered loose squares off the tables that we haven’t had a chance to bundle....looking forward to your next creations.
Leigh also brought magnificent blankets from NOT A SQUARE. The pink one was joined by her daughter Katie. I love the ones that are crocheted together to “ make them fit”.
Well done ladies!

So many beautiful blankets!

CREATECARE GLOBAL

"CreateCare Global has set itself two tasks. The first is physical: to bring hope, support and comfort to children for whom poverty and loss are everyday tormentors. The second, and in our view equally important, is to spread the message to the world."

Our thanks to CreateCare Global for supporting the Square Circle Forum and helping to spread the wonderful work that KAS does.
