Square Circle Ezine

Over time there have been many heartening comments about the ezine. But like all things there are always ways to improve. I now that some of the issues are just WAY to long, perhaps many of you would prefer shorter, more frequent news. This thread is reserved for comments about Square Circle, what stories you loved, weren't that bothered about, what you would like to read more about. We greatly value your feedback. Thanks Sandy

  • Sandy,
I've only found KAS a week or so ago, and am so inspired. I just finished reading all of the back issues of the ezine. They are wonderful! You have done an awesome job journaling all that has been done for this project. The pictures and stories are beautiful. I love that they are lengthy and involve so much information and so many pictures. I've just started crocheting squares to send, but through reading all the ezines I am so excited about being a part of this.
Just a thought- has any one tried to contact Oprah about this? It seems like something she would so get behind if she only knew about it...

    Debbie :)
    • How lovely to have your comments Debbie, thank you very much for your encouragement. We have tried to reach Oprah, several of us have written to date but with no success.

However we are just putting in a very comprehensive proposal to her Angel's Network, so perhaps if we are successful at that, we will be seen by her organisation and who knows what happens after that. Just got to keep trying! Sandy
      • Sandy, like everyone else, I love the ezines. I have to admit that I was shocked to see the young man showing off the KAS blanket, but then I realized how stunning it looked, how well put together and beautifully clean. And certainly it's keeping someone nice and warm. Seeing the way they're living is just amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing the "Invictus" movie with Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela. Looks like they were showing some of the slum areas in it. thanks diane
        • Sandy I am still reading and re reading ezine as I will for the next month! Its a real picuture of what life is really like and you do it so tenderly. The people and the faces stay with me all the time and I think about them all when I am knitting and wondering if a kettle turned up, how could I send can openers...well I suppose that's a bit silly but you know what I mean.

I did wonder if go- overs and slip -overs might be more useful for children who live where blankets could get -well -permanently borrowed ! They would be wearing them and less chance of them being available for borrowing. Anyway I am sure Rondah knows the best thing to do.
We belong to a wonderful charity in KAS.
  • Hi Sandy. Thank you for another fanastic ezine. I especially appreciated your highlighted comment about NOT stopping sending squares in fear of overloading the S.A operation of KAS. I have to admit recently I felt like that I was adding to the burden of Ronda and the others but now I realise that no matter how long it takes to sort and sew our squares, at least they will be in the warehouse waiting for the time when the people of S.A have the resources to sew them togther. I was amazed to hear of the group that managed to sew together 106 blankets in 4 weeks! I am sad to hear of your familys necessary reduction in involement in KAS due to financial reasons, but we will all continue to hope for major funding to come forward to help you all. As Christmas draws closer here in the U.K, I have to say that my involvement in KAS and being more aware of the children of S.A and there plight is making me think about this season differently this year. My children will have warm cozy beds to sleep in on Christmas eve and a day of fun ahead of them, but it is so important that they know how lucky they are and I will be telling all the people I see over the seaaon about KAS and the important work you do. Take care all of you and I am offf to get back to the needles.X

    • Hi Sandy I had not realised you were cutting down your involvement in kas due to money I thought you wanted money for the whole organisation.
so it is more urgent than ever to get the money flowing , if we all send a small amount for every square we send I am sure things will soon pick up lets pray we get it coming in for you
      lots of love

  • Just read the e-zine for the second time....there is so much to digest. Thank you Sandy for creating another wonderful e-zine. It is wonderful to see all the blankets, sweaters and squares keeping children warm. There has been so much done - in only a year. I know the money will appear very soon to keep this going !
  • Well , I am just floored...

I just finished reading the latest ezine and I just cannot believe it !

Sandy , you have done it again.

You have so masterfully joined together the bits and pieces of Kas
and with your words brought life to our kids and family in SA.

It is fitting it is the December issue as it
Really brings home what this holiday season is all about.

And in so doing motivating me to do better , be better and Knit More!

    • Thank you Karen and Anne, I greatly appreciate your comments. It is indeed heart warming and heart wrenching and writing it I felt that too. I hope the ezine will similarly inspire everyone it goes to and that KAS will be secure as a result. Sandy
