(Pam) Jeanne Haessler
1951 - 2022

Written by Gloria Grandy

Another precious KASvoice from our Square Circle Forum has gone quiet.

The voice of our KASsister Jeanne Haessler was, as many of us know, an uplifting, positive and immensely funny voice. The sound of her laughter will be missed - even though some of us can only imagine that sound.

I feel privileged to be someone who heard it in person during my visits with her in her hometown of Dryden, Ontario, Canada. Jeanne truly was a treasure!

Jeanne was a valued and much-loved contributor to KAS - her crocheted work, her positive interaction with us on the Forum and her prayers for KAS and "our" children – doing her best from her little corner of the world. We could always count on Jeanne to offer encouagement to her KASfriends, share a little humor now and then and generally bring a ray of sunshine to our Square Circle Forum.

At one time, Jeanne hosted a theme where she would endeavor to keep us all in stitches - the giggling and laughing kind, not the knitting and crocheting kind - and she always succeeded. A trip back through some of those discussions will put a smile on your face, I'm sure.

Our Jeanne had such a great love for the children. She cared a great deal about our volunteers at the Barn. She shared loving comments throughout distribution photos and discussions from the barn, forever wishing she could do more.

If the good wishes, love and prayers Jeanne continually sent could warm and comfort the children, there would not be a cold or lonely child in all of South Africa - or, indeed, the whole world.

Thank you, Jeanne, for all your good work. May your family and all your loved ones find comfort in remembering the happiness you brought to their lives and, through KAS, the lives of many dear children.

When asked, Why do you want to contribute to KAS?
Jeanne answered with this:

"I want to make a difference in the world, to give people hope, to let them know we care, that they're important, and use my talents doing so."

J'honore la mémoire de cette belle et généreuse personne et lui adresse mes pensées de Lumière et mes prières

Mireille says:  I honour the memory of this beautiful and generous person and send to her my thoughts of Light and my prayers.

From myself;  thank you for this tribute.   I've seen Jeanne's name so many times when I've been looking on the KAS site although I never met her.   I love her answer to the question as to why she wanted to help KAS.  She summed up how so many of us feel.  She will be missed by so many people.  Condolences to her family.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful tribute Gloria and Andrea.  Jeanne was a long time supporter of KAS and did add so much humor and support to the cause for so many years.  She will be missed.

Here are some links to year long discussion she hosted bring us laughter and tears.

Some sad news!I have written with Jeanne a few years ago and I remember her beeing very kindhearted and interesting. My thoughts go out to her family ♥️

How sad! Jeanne contributed so much!

Thank you for posting this lovely tribute. Jeanne will be remembered fondly. You were lucky to be able to meet her in person, Gloria.

Thank you for the lovely tribute, Glo.. all the more meaningful for having met her. I would have loved to have.

Jeanne was such a witty, fun and warm person. Always there with advice and information when members needed answers and caring and generous with her crafting for the children.

Sincere condolences to her family. xo

Thank you for posting here, Andrea and allowing us the opportunity to express our sympathies and share our memories of this lovely lady.

Thank you so much Andrea and Gloria for posting this beautiful tribute.
I will remember Jeanne as a loving and caring lady, she loved the children SO much. It always felt as if she was very close to me. She was a warmhearted, passionate and inspiring lady, positive and always encouraging and enthusiastic about what we made for the children.
Her humor was very special, I will never forget the "Furry, Feathered and Fishy Friends" discussions, which brought me much laughter.
I will never forget her compliment "way to go girl", it inspired me and it gave me a lot of energy to make as much squares as possible for the children's blankets.
We lost a much-loved friend, she will be greatly missed, the fond memories remain.

My thoughts and sincere sympathies go out to Jeanne's family.

Oh I'm so sad to hear this news.   I think most of us who had any form of contact with Jeanne will think of her and smile widely.   She was one of life's givers - of her time, humour, fun and generous nature.   Her light take on matters was infectious.   I must add too that I was taken with her interest and support when I had completed my sponsored 35 Squares challenge earlier this year.   What a woman!    May she rest in peace.......Xx

A very sad news of Jeanne passing.

May Jeanne rest in peace. My condolences to her family.

Andrea, thank you for sharing this.  Dear Jeanne's presence will definitely be missed here on our forum among her many KASfriends.

I like the photo she shared of herself and Klaus in the same big sweater.  I adored Jeanne's wonderful sense of humor.

My most sincere condolences to her loved ones ... xo

Have only just seen this, how very sad.  Jeanne was always very generous and encouraging with her comments to everyone.  Heartfelt condolences to her family.
