PHOTOGRAPHS FROM KAS DISTRIBUTIONS 2012 - 2013
Ronda and Wendy have been producing quite a catalogue of photographs from the recent distributions, rather than post them a few at a time, it was decided to create a discussion page where they could be displayed more speedily so that members might be able to spot their squares, garments or hats earlier! Spotting one of our own creations in Africa really does spur as on to even greater creativity!

I'm with you Jeanne. It's good to have things put back in perspective from time to time. we decided a long time ago not to give presents at Christmas. Our daughter is grown and we don't have any grandchildren, so we're not upsetting anyone.

Here are some photographs of the Kido's Day Centre distribution in winter 2010. The final few photographs are kids from the neighbourhood. Ronda gave them beanies, biscuits and apples as they looked forlorn and left-out!

Here are the first batch of pics from the wonderful Nancefield distribution ! These are the scene setting photos of getting the supplies to the Gym etc
The KasVan is filled too bursting with a wonderful selection of tried foods which Lindiwe the teacher can feed the children with!
Lots of packets of dried foods, apples, bread, biscuits, rice, tinned food, soup & sugar!

The day before there was an earth tremor and, sadly, the Gym was damaged. One can see that as well as cracks, windows have broken.

We got these fabulous soft interlocking puzzle mats which the children love to sit on and play/read - because it is comfortable and warm!
During setting up some of the little ones just could not stay away - here with Donna!

The water/sand table contents. We decided to fill both sides with sand when we noticed the children were so fascinated by it. Lindiwe says she will take some of the outside one day and put water in them.
This little boy cries all the time and just wants to be in the arms of someone - you will see him being carried by Lindiwe in various photos still to come!

Unpacking the wooden block - they were very popular!
We bought 20 balls and again the children loved these. We did not put them all out - some saved in the storeroom!
The goodies we managed to get!
The hula hoops were funny - we got 20 of these and showed the teachers how they could use them to teach the children hop-scotch, dribbling soccer balls etc.,- they were thrilled with the potential for these!

We bought dozens of puzzles and colouring books and have also put some away in the storeroom. The alphabet train is a long floor puzzle - amazing. The little boy in the first pic looked at every thing from evry angle!
Lindiwe, who heads up the Day Care, was so overwhelmed. Here she poses with some food and a ball!
The teachers help pack the 'extras' in the storeroom - they just could not believe what we managed to get!

Nancefield Batch No.3 from Ronda - and quiet a few more batches to come from Ronda and Wendy!
The teachers are trying to get some of the children to line up and sing, but they were so distracted by the sight of all the goodies!
This was a small group of some of the children who did sing a thank you song. A number of the children were at the local family clinic that day, which was unfortunate, but they will return to an amazing surprise!

Whizzing around on the bikes. Luckily the space allows for this. Plus the had to drive through chicanes created by the hula hoops!
The whole gym became a raceway at one point, but we then confined racing to one area!
Once the children had run around looking at everything, they settled and explored the quieter activities for the rest of the morning and the volunteers had fun playing with the children.
The children loved these blocks and I am so pleased we got them - were one of the more expensive items because they are all wooden, but when you see how popular they are, it was a very good choice and buy. The children were so creative too!

This little chap stayed to one side, but he loved the ball!
This little one had such a serious face, I tried taking her photo and then showing her on the camera, which normally makes the children laugh, but she was always serious. One can only wonder what she has hidden in her heart and head........She, did in fact, love colouring in- you will see her later.
The play house in the background was the only equipment the facility had before!
Concentration.......
This was a set of more advanced blocks which intrigued the children - by the end of the morning some of them were figuring it out - engineers in the making?
