Ronda and Wendy have been producing quite a catalogue of photographs from the recent distributions, rather than post them a few at a time, it was decided to create a discussion page where they could be displayed more speedily so that members might be able to spot their squares, garments or hats earlier!  Spotting one of our own creations in Africa really does spur as on to even greater creativity!

Here is one of the gorgeous children in a
'before' and 'after' photo!

Often one reads comments from members wishing they could do more, but the only thing we have to do, is exactly the amount of goodness that each of us has available from looking after our families etc.,  EVERY SQUARE  is so very valuable, and it does make a difference. KAS members have contributed an astonishing number of squares during the last 4 and half years - added together, we have brought comfort and warmth to thousands upon thousands of deprived, vulnerable, and, sadly often unwell children.  Below is a quote from one of the loveliest Africans to grace that continent - Bishop Desmond Tutu which really summarises everything the KAS Band of Sisters & Brothers do, day in day out, freely and without thought of self!  We knit & crochet to support these children totally unconditionally.

    • I am completely smitten with the little girl, top right, pointing her little finger and with a HUGE smile!  She would be a cuddler, I just know it!  My grandson does that, points his little finger, and it is so darn cute!  I would want to wrap her up in my arms and take her home with me ;)  It must be so hard to leave, after spending time with them.  So many of us are alike, in having a strong maternal drive, that makes us want to help these children.....it must be very hard to walk away and move on to the next challenge.  But what a wonderful, amazing difference KAS is making in their lives and I am so happy to be part of that!

Thank you Ronda, Wendy and all of the rest "on the ground" in S. Africa....you are such a blessing to the children AND to those of us who are part of KAS!!  You inspire me!

      • I agree with you all the way. You just want to gather them all up and keep them warm and safe and loved.Unfortunately I don't have any grandchildren, but I feel that all these children we meet through the photos are my durrogate grandchildren and I'm lucky to be able to do something to help them.

        • I agree with you, Valerie.....I don't have grandchildren either and these are my surrogate grandies, too.

      • Wendy has this problem too Mary Anne, somehow a child will make a bee-line for her and try to follow her when she leaves!

    • There are certainly some amazing women in SA, caring for these beautiful children in such adverse conditions, with so little resources....its true what the Beatles sang... All you need is love....and we Kasers have plenty of that to give, too.  :))

    • What great pictures, makes you realise how lucky we are, and what a great job everyone is doing.
    • One of the best Christmas gifts....all these faces, so precious every one of them.  Look at the little girl hugging the purple pony and green teddy....hope, happiness and gratitude.  Brings me happy tears to see that little one is happy too. We are working small miracles with these darlings every day.  I sometimes look at all the hats, vests, sweaters, blankets and toys being distributed and my mind is blown to realize how many loving, caring truly DECENT people there are in the world and how much of their time and energy they selflessly devote to helping these precious little AIDS/HIV orphans and poor children in South Africa.  God Bless you Every One.

      • How right you are. Just to see the smile of that little one in the second photo down on the right made my Christmas.
