PHOTOGRAPHS FROM KAS DISTRIBUTIONS 2012 - 2013

Ronda and Wendy have been producing quite a catalogue of photographs from the recent distributions, rather than post them a few at a time, it was decided to create a discussion page where they could be displayed more speedily so that members might be able to spot their squares, garments or hats earlier!  Spotting one of our own creations in Africa really does spur as on to even greater creativity!

      Often one reads comments from members wishing they could do more, but the only thing we have to do, is exactly the amount of goodness that each of us has available from looking after our families etc.,  EVERY SQUARE  is so very valuable, and it does make a difference. KAS members have contributed an astonishing number of squares during the last 4 and half years - added together, we have brought comfort and warmth to thousands upon thousands of deprived, vulnerable, and, sadly often unwell children.  Below is a quote from one of the loveliest Africans to grace that continent - Bishop Desmond Tutu which really summarises everything the KAS Band of Sisters & Brothers do, day in day out, freely and without thought of self!  We knit & crochet to support these children totally unconditionally.

Here are the photographs taken by Ronda and Wendy of the children of Zenzele, during the GOMA Outreach special Day on Saturday 28th June 2013 - many of the children had been to a Face Painting session provided by the Goma team!  Ronda commented that it was a FREEZING cold day.

THE ZENZELE STITCHING LADIES -  The ladies of the community all crammed into a class room at the church and sang gospel music at the top of their voices while sewing together KAS blankets and enjoying a cup of tea and biscuits.  Wendy, Abegail, Zodwa and I decided not to try our talents at rapping with the children and joined the ladies sewing blankets instead.

Pastor (Thomas) from the Randfontein church group has been in touch saying that the 63 extra blanket-packs we took on Saturday 15th had already been stitched up and distributed by the following Thursday !

They want more ... which is fine, but it's MILES away, so we have to make a plan about driving them out there at some stage. Wonderful enthusiasm  !!!

It's incredible to see stunning blankets being created by so many beautiful women from contributions from so many people around the world.  If all people could just come together like a blanket!

Beautiful words and beautiful photos Pam!  Thank you for posting them for us to see.  I just love seeing Ronda, Wendy and the other ladies, smiling and creating warmth for the children!  And to see those little bodies wrapped in thick, warm blankets of love.....that's what it's all about!  XOXO
