Hello KASfriends.  Welcome to October!

This month we are sharing our

F A V O U R I T E S

Since music is one of my favourite things, I thought I would begin with a song to get us in the mood.  Oscar Hammerstein II wrote it, but Julie Andrews sings it the way I like to hear it.  Oh ... and by the way, it’s from one of my favourite movies.

So what is your favourite:

Color

Technique

Pattern

                Season

                           Holiday

     Place

Memory

                                        Animal

                Flavour

We all have favourite “stuff”… maybe even several favourite “stuffs”.  They come in all shapes, sizes, colors, places, and seasons.  Everyone’s taste is different … that’s what makes each one of us unique and special!  So come on and show us your “specialness” by making a square with your favourite something in mind!

Some of my favourites are …

granny squares …

PJ squares …

Illusion squares ...

crochet squares ...

Tunisian crochet squares ...

cro-knit squares …

stripey squares

Christmas squares ...

whimsical squares ...

But my all-time favourite is …

STACKS OF SQUARES!

So come on and join the fun.  Make a square … or several … in honor of your  favourite  anything!

Who knows … you might even discover a new one along the way.

Anne has once again kindly agreed to post our pictures in the Photo Album here:

  • Here finally is the memorial blanket that I had hoped to post in October!  Life does get in the way sometimes :)  I haven't sewn it up yet, but wanted to get it posted before we got TOO far into November!

  • You know what they say, better late than never!  These are a couple that I managed to finish, in the midst of all the craziness of October :)  I posted them on the photo page, and so I am just now getting them onto the discussion....sorry for the delay!

2965196961?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024Well, here are the last 8 squares for this month's blanket -  some glamorous Grannies! The top ones are actually a Cadbury purple but they look blue on here. And the red yarn is glittery.

  • Thank you to everyone who contributed to KAS this month.  You have made such a difference in the lives of many children and you should be extremely proud of yourselves.

Since children are another of my favourite things, I will leave you this month with a boy square and a girl square.  This is Tunisian crochet, one of my favourite techniques.

My "first ever" challenge is now one of my favourite memories :)  And you, my dear KASfriends, are among my favourite people.

Thank you also for all of your positive responses to our KASsong!  Please keep sharing it and spreading the word.  I will now pass the baton to Linda Maltby for our November theme ... Bugs, Slugs, and Hugs!

Together, let's keep things "humming" right along ;o)  xo

I end this challenge , which was full of surprises due to Gloria's supertalent to "circumvent" us all (LOL), with a mitered square. Gloria I have had a lot of fun, you brought the KAS family together. Thank you for a wonderful time. May the KAS song bring luck and I hope that many people will be inspired and start knitting squares. Hugs for you and your wonderful family! xo

  • Gloria, thank you for a wonderful challenge....It is one of my favourites :-)  Lots of beautiful squares to brighten the children's blankets and other wonderful items.   As well, you gave us the mystery of the 8-inch-square and the fabulous video.  Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!

Earlier you mentioned you couldn't get the video to load so I did a bit of investigating and here it is:

  • October challenge 2014 - Favourites

Can't remember the name of the top left, top right is Wendy's slip stitch, bottom left, ball-band and bottom right, Two colour star.

Top left is Bird Cherry (?), top right is pretty pink and mauve ballband and bottom square is a nice soft, muted green that just wants to be bright. Squares by Ros.
