To Our October 2021 Theme

Have you, like me, had yarn in your stash for a very long time, just waiting to be chosen, but you have passed over it in favour of other, newer yarn? Or, perhaps you have bought some yarn from a charity shop, never used by its previous owner, and it was just sitting there waiting…… then it was chosen by you!

Well, October could be the month when this yarn has its chance to shine, to fulfill its destiny and be chosen to help warm a child in SA, or perhaps even make a toy!

Appliqués or small needlepoint pictures may be at the bottom of a drawer or your work basket too, so please dig them out, for they too have been waiting to be chosen to enhance a square or a blanket that a child will treasure!

Do you have a pattern that has been on your ’to do’ list for a while? Well this could be the month you try it!

This month isn’t really an inspirational theme, but I hope it will encourage us all to look at what we have, and do what we can for the children. I hope we can also encourage and inspire each other!

Seeing photos of the children at distributions always motivates me to do as much as I can to help them….. and I know that I’m not on my own, we all wish we could do more!

The children in SA will welcome everything you make in any pattern or colour: blankets, squares, hats, hand warmers and toys!

So happy crafting everyone!

I find it encouraging to know that you can make a mistake, Marion - your work is usually such perfection! A very jolly llama, it's going to make a brilliant blanket.

Marion, your llama square is absolutely delightful and in lots of fun colours in addition to the pretty lilac and lavender. I smiled when I read of your little error……. not because it was funny, but because your work is always sooo perfect and I thought you were superwoman and didn’t make mistakes…. unlike me! I love your cute little lace flowers too :))

Don't you just hate that, Marion??!!  With me, it's usually an extra knit stitch added to one row in the border....haha.

I just LOVE your cheery llama to bits!!! The colours in the whole of this square are going to delight one lucky little one. I can't wait to see how she will be incorporated into a blanket in SA.

Marion, I admire all your cute graphs. When I saw your llama for the first time I wanted to kiss him. He is so sweet!

Wouldn’t it be lovely if the child who finds it in their blanket felt like that too?

Super-dooper large picture square Marion.   It has bountiful flair, style and character.  Xxxx

10 double strand hats:  4 using CoM remnants of purples I had,

and 6 using the leftovers from a current "Waiting To Be Chosen" blanket I have almost finished which was using wool I've had this space for it's completion very soon!

So colourful, Karen. Another 10 warm heads.

Ooh, I love all these colours Karen, they are gorgeous! I will eagerly await the blanket :))

VERY pretty, Karen.  :))

This little lady was Waiting to have all the tails sewn in...I think that may qualify for this month's theme.

Thank you Amy, this little lady certainly fits this theme, she is sooo cute! :))
