To Our October 2021 Theme

Have you, like me, had yarn in your stash for a very long time, just waiting to be chosen, but you have passed over it in favour of other, newer yarn? Or, perhaps you have bought some yarn from a charity shop, never used by its previous owner, and it was just sitting there waiting…… then it was chosen by you!

Well, October could be the month when this yarn has its chance to shine, to fulfill its destiny and be chosen to help warm a child in SA, or perhaps even make a toy!

Appliqués or small needlepoint pictures may be at the bottom of a drawer or your work basket too, so please dig them out, for they too have been waiting to be chosen to enhance a square or a blanket that a child will treasure!

Do you have a pattern that has been on your ’to do’ list for a while? Well this could be the month you try it!

This month isn’t really an inspirational theme, but I hope it will encourage us all to look at what we have, and do what we can for the children. I hope we can also encourage and inspire each other!

Seeing photos of the children at distributions always motivates me to do as much as I can to help them….. and I know that I’m not on my own, we all wish we could do more!

The children in SA will welcome everything you make in any pattern or colour: blankets, squares, hats, hand warmers and toys!

So happy crafting everyone!

I’m looking forward to this theme, Chris.  I have all the items mentioned above in your intro and plenty of purple yarn! I also have lots of patterns bookmarked waiting to be chosen.

I will look forward to seeing your creations Marion :))

Super introduction, Chris. I hadn't thought of patterns waiting to be used - like Marion I've always got some of those.

Thanks Patricia, I will keep a lookout for new patterns from you :))

For ages I’ve been ignoring yarn in solid colours and using variegated, as I love working with their ever changing patterns and colours. Having looked at the solid colours I had, I realised that I had all the colours I needed to make a rainbow blanket and I hadn’t made one since January 2016, so here it is and I have really enjoyed making it!

The orange is actually much brighter than the photo shows, and the border is a bright purple.

Wit-woop!!!! This blanket is terrific!   Super to use age yarns + put them to such good use. ♥️

SUPER intro, Chris!!

I am LOVING your stunning rainbow blanket.  :))

I love bright stripes and it's winner winner, chicken dinner for me.  :))

What a beauty!   Love your rainbow blanket, Chris.

Another day, another coincidence, Chris. I've also been planning a rainbow blanket as I haven't made one lately, although I've got no further than picking my colours so far! Your blanket is absolutely gorgeous.

Chris, you´ve made a very beautiful blanket. I love it very much.

Super intro Chris and an eye catching blanket.

October 2021 Theme - Waiting to be Chosen

Well, I didn't achieve my trip around the world in July, with many places/continents waiting to be chosen. I'll see how far I get this month....Starting with a visit to Europe. A cheeky leprechaun and a shamrock.

Squares are a deep, rich purple...gotta love cameras. At least it didn't make them blue like it sometimes does.  :))
