Welcome to our November theme
Put on a Happy Face.
This month was going to be hosted by our dear friend, Anne Powell. Sadly, Anne passed away suddenly, in March.
Looking through her photos has sure put a smile on my dial. I have included some of her fun faces in the picture squares below. They are the little pink pig and the yellow/red and blue/blue variegated smiley faces.
Faces of all kinds are so engaging and just looking at them can put a smile on our own.
Squares featuring animal faces
And all manner of fun faces
If picture squares are not your thing, please consider making striped or single colour squares in colours that will have you putting on a happy face.
And for your toe tapping pleasure...
OOO this is very pretty Patricia!
Youtube is not my friend today, for the first time ever, but I am posting the link and hoping it will let you play it. :))
No link showing for me, Bev. I'm intrigued as to what the song is going to be as I definitely don't know any songs about unicorns. Pretty, pretty squares anyway!
I don't see a link either, Bev. Not sure which song you picked for your sweet unicorn squares, but the only one I can think of is this one by the Irish Rovers:
I didn't think I knew this but once it got going it did stir some dim and distant memories! I see it was written by the late Shel Silverstein who did some fabulous work with Dr Hook as well as writing A Boy Named Sue for Johnny Cash.
Interesting background, Patricia ... none of which I knew :)))) Thanks. I rather liked "A Boy Named Sue" ... haha ...xo
I am definitely losing the plot!! I was having so much fun...NOT....trying to get youtube to work, yesterday....never had it go bad on me before....and was getting totally frustrated 'cos I couldn't get the song to play...then had a lightbulb moment when I realized I could just copy the url without having to listen to it (I had played it the day before), which I did, but didn't realize I only pasted it to my photo in the photo section, not in the discussion. Sorry Ladies...haha. :))
Thanks for posting the link Glo. This was the one I was meant to have posted, as it has the lyrics for those who don't know the song. :))
Oh Bev these are darling colours and appliques - you certainly have had a varied selection of appliques. These ones are especially sublime.
and..........what are you all talking about??? Is it another "I'm too young to get it" thing (teee-heee).
As a child I loved watching Black Beauty on the TV and would get excited when I heard the themmusic. I assumed that I would be great working with horses and would be a great rider..... but reality was very different! I enjoy seeing horses if they are the other side of a sturdy fence and my first experience of riding a horse was also my last!
But I still love to hear the familiar music......
TV theme music is so evocative. My favourite TV show ever was Dallas and that music still makes my heart skip a beat!
I remember Dallas well, I thought Bobby was so handsome!
Another great picture, Chris!!! The dear children who receive your animal squares will have a lovely friend to cuddle with.
I won't bore you with my horse-riding story (I shared it on our forum some time ago). Suffice to say I, too, am a horse lover - from afar :))
As for famous horses and horse songs, there are many of them, I'm sure. One that comes to mind is the famous Mr. Ed (a weekly sitcom from the early 60s) and this is the theme song from that show ... xo
