If you wish to add a pattern for a square you have made, please insert it at the end of this discussion by using the "Repy to This" feature and please include a photo with the pattern.
We ask that you do not just include links to patterns online that you have not actually tried.
Please note: some of the patterns below are older and do not include instructions for leaving tails.
Ronda has requested that we now leave a 50cm/20" tail for sewing squares together. Please butterfly the tail to the square. Instructions for this and an illustration can be found at
For the first time ever I have knitted and am sending 35 squares to be made up into one blanket. Rather than use up old bits of wool I have actually colour blended this time round. I have of course got loads left of these colours for the next project, the wrist warmers!
These are tremendous Chris!!
That looks beautiful, Chris.

Wow Wendy....four GORGEOUS squares!! I would particularly like to try the first two. LOVING the colours you have used, too. :))
Could you please tell me what brand are the first and last knitted from?
The purple yarn in the fist picture (broken moss) is a brand called 'Needles' I don't know where you would buy it though, a friend in QLD sent it to me as a gift, it actually isn't a very good yarn, it is very thin and I had to put more stitches on the needle than usual.
The blue in the bottom picture is 'Birch' yarn. I bought it at a discount store here called 'Best Buys'. It is old stock though and the newer 'Birch' yarn that is available at the Reject shop is thinner. The blue was a bit on the bulky side and I used fewer stitches with it than usual.
Thanks Wendy. Yes, we get Needles here. Looking at it again, I think I may have used this colour before, or else I have it somewhere in my stash. Your photo just makes it look prettier than I remember....hahaha.
Don't think I've seen that colour in the Birch before. I hate it when they bring out new stock that is thinner than previous, especially if I don't realize until I've already purchased it.
Loving these squares and the colours you used! They all look so neat!
