May & June challenge - squares to Zimbabwe
Hello dearest KAS members
We have a new challenge for you for May and June. There is an opportunity in South Africa for a truck to be driven up to Zimbabwe filled with squares. Now we just need the squares to fill it. Mother of Peace in Zimbabwe will sew the squares into blankets and give them to children who are in such desperate need.
An exciting prospect and we need MASSES of squares to make it happen. So here's what you do: knit squares, lots of them! Address them to the same address:

Please mark them clearly as "SQUARES FOR ZIMBABWE" and there you have it. Children in Zimbabwe will be warmed and feel your love. Please keep a tally as we did for the bus challenge. Thanks everyone, and good luck!

Hi Cheryl! The square is 28 stitches across, so yes - chain of 29. The green yarn is a bit thinner than the other colours... normally I would have had 27 stitches across for 8" even. My colours are a bit off but I was excited to start it. It's also very hard to find a good yellow!

Kalai this is great news. When I joined KAS it was with the hope that some things would find their way to Zimbabwe. A very moving documentary was screened here in the UK last year, "Zimbabwe's Forgotten Children" and it's haunted me ever since. Squares it is!!!

We've known for quite a while now that Zimbabwe wanted "in on the action" as soon as possible...we weren't sure when we'd be able to start helping them. I'm very happy to see this truck delivery. It's a start!
