The KAS Shop is an integral part of keeping KAS alive to provide help for the children in South Africa.   The funds raised through purchases from the KAS Shop are greatly needed to help cover expenses such as The Barn rent, the postal collection charges, fuel for the KAS van and the stipend for the Gogo's for each blanket sewn up.

A massive outgoing from the KAS funds is the mandatory customs and handling fee of $3.75US per parcel.    This is a charge the South African Customs and Excise enforce no matter what size of parcel is collected.   Therefore it is an ongoing regular outlay, and it is vital this proportion of expense is supported to keep our crafting flowing to where it is needed most.

Donations are most welcome whether they are as you can afford them, or by setting up a monthly donation.    Both are easily arranged by pressing the Donate button to the right of the Main Page in the Forum, or by making a purchase from our well stocked KAS Shop full of fundraising departments.

Remember 100% of every KAS Shop purchase goes directly to KAS......and every penny counts!!    Thank you X

Hello, hello everyone - it has been some time since I got in touch with you lovely KAS members.   I thought I should drop by to remind you all - OUR SHOP NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!!!

It would be marvellous to bump into one or two of you in the aisles of our store - I always take time to say a wee "Hi".

Thank you, Karen, for reminding us that KAS also has financial needs.  While each square, each blanket, each hat, pair of handwarmers and toy is essential and absolutely appreciated, the truth is that our gifts don't fly to the children on their own.  Money must be found for all the things you've listed above in order to complete the circle of love for the children ... xo

Cooo-eee crafters!    I thought it was time for me to pop by and encourage you to spend a little time and money in our store.   There are numerous bargains to be found, and even some free items to help keep you busy.......

As there has been no mail collected for some weeks it bothers me that the next few pick-ups will be bountiful - which will be a financial hit from the KAS funds.   I need to encourage members to help with these expenses if you can.

Pay the customs handling fee is a $5 item in the KAS Shop, and maybe you could pay for a small basket of yarn to help the Gogos stitch our squares together - their small stipend is an outgoing which will resume soon.

I'd like to encourage you while you are in store to pick up a FREE copy of the cookbook or 35 Squares Make a Blanket booklet, which have been compiled for us to use and enjoy.

Your help and creativity are what keep our charity running, and your support is always welcome.  Stay safe in the aisles members.

I've popped in here today on behalf of Karen Gordon.   Her sponsored "35 Squares Make A Blanket" total is now standing at 1500USD

The support, encouragement and money paid has been astounding.   I'd like to thank everyone for helping to raise such a terrific amount for the children in South Africa.    With much love,

Auntie Nellie xx xx xx

I agree with Aunt Nellie.  This is an astounding show of support from our KASfamily!  xo

A great big "HELLO and How you doing?"  message from me today!   I sincerely hope everyone is well, happy and clicking or hooking away for our needy cause.

The need for covering some housekeeping expenses is prominent in my mind just now so I've stopped by to ask you to consider buying either a small basket of yarn at just US$5, or maybe you could help to wrap 4 children in blankets for the same amount.....   It is thought any time soon mail will be tumbling through the doors then into the hands of our volunteers in South Africa.

We've still not been given to go-ahead to mail our makes just yet, but at it stands there will be a backlog of parcels and packages to collect.   This outgoing from the KAS funds will be super costly, so can we all remember to cover the Postage Handling fees when we're in store too, pretty please.    The doors and tills are always open and ready for any donations.   Every dollar really does count!

Thanks ever so much for your continued interest and support in our workings.   Love to you all Auntie Nellie XxX

Delighted to hear the "wheels are back on the KAS wagon" again...or should I say the Post Office's wheels. It's definitely an answer to prayer for me.  I've been doing some black squares (despite having a white cat, that was covered in a post elsewhere) and hope to send off a hat or two as well as some squares. I felt a bit like a fish out of water with no go ahead to post.  Now I can smile and get back to work! I'll definitely drop by the shop. I've been doing that instead of mailing during this disruption and a small amount from us makes a huge difference over there in Africa, I know that. Hang in there gals and guys, we got this!

Hello again everyone!    I'm stopping by today to press the message that we can now resume mailing our parcels.   Have you seen the photographs in the News From The Barn discussion page?    The return of mail being received is just amazing and so very pleasing to see.   The volunteers are certainly busy opening and sorting all our goodies.

Can I also remind you that covering the postage handling fee is a superb way to help the system run smoothly.      Funds are much needed and appreciated so why not pop into our store and perhaps drop an item or two into your basket when you browse.    We'd love to see you!

Stay safe and keep crafting, Auntie Nellie xx xx xx

Hey Aunt Nellie,

Did you see the new photos from The Barn on May 31?

Just look at all that fabulous yarn that our donations through the Shop were able to purchase for our volunteers and gogos to use when sewing together blankets.  Oooo-eeee!  That is so exciting and I can't wait to see more yarn arriving soon.

Yes, indeed.   It's marvellous to visually see  the generosity of our members like this.   Thank you everyone ♥️

Hi - a while back I bought a copy of Gloria Gandy's Tunisian crochet booklet.  I cannot find it at all on my computer or in the chaos that is my craft room......... and I want to teach my KCG Branch on Thursday how to do Tunisian Crochet.  Can someone alert Gloria to my plea or direct me to buy a new copy

TIA

I Googled the Beginner T C Gloria Grandy which gave me this.... It has a link + it's $7.

Gloria also has You Tube pieces of film about TC.
