LET'S TALK SHOP 2021
The KAS Shop is an integral part of keeping KAS alive to provide help for the children in South Africa. The funds raised through purchases from the KAS Shop are greatly needed to help cover expenses such as The Barn rent, the postal collection charges, fuel for the KAS van and the stipend for the Gogo's for each blanket sewn up.
A massive outgoing from the KAS funds is the mandatory customs and handling fee of $3.75US per parcel. This is a charge the South African Customs and Excise enforce no matter what size of parcel is collected. Therefore it is an ongoing regular outlay, and it is vital this proportion of expense is supported to keep our crafting flowing to where it is needed most.
Donations are most welcome whether they are as you can afford them, or by setting up a monthly donation. Both are easily arranged by pressing the Donate button to the right of the Main Page in the Forum, or by making a purchase from our well stocked KAS Shop full of fundraising departments.
Remember 100% of every KAS Shop purchase goes directly to KAS......and every penny counts!! Thank you X
Coo-eee!! It's Aunt Nellie here pointing out that an expense which is more prominent now is the Gogo's stipend, as the backlog of mail due to COVID is amassing in The Barn and the mountains of squares need making into blankets more than ever right now. The Gogo's get $1.50US per blanket they complete. You can help support these expenses by clicking GOGO SUPPORT in the KAS Shop. Thank you x
That's right, Aunt Nellie! Thank you for the reminder. With winter headed to our children, the need for stitching blankets for distributions is paramount! I'll be popping into the KAS Shop soon. Hope to see you there :))
Thank You, Aunt Nellie (and Karen) for the reminder.
The customs fees are an unfortunate fact of life, so we must just learn to live with them if we want the blankets to get to the children. And we definitely want the GoGos to help, and we want to support them just a little bit, too.
I have a regular monthly donation set up, but have just added another little bit to help deal with ongoing expenses. Thanks for the reminder to get this done.
Thank you, Sharon! Setting up a regular monthly donation helps to give Ronda peace of mind. And a little extra is big help, too ... xo
Thank you Aunt Nellie for this great reminder.
The only way KAS is able to distribute blankets is to have blankets made from all the squares that come into The Barn.

True, Amy. There's a lot of stitching needed to get our mountains of squares made into blankets, and it's wonderful that the Gogos can receive a little something for their work ... xo
Okay, I donated to KAS for my son's girlfriend's birthday. She was thrilled to hear it. This time I chose 2 customs fee payments and I think a medium basket of yarn. This isn't said to brag, it's to say here's some, we are contributing, to perhaps encourage others? It doesn't take much. Even 2 customs payments or a small yarn basket.
I love that we can directly support the GoGo's. I understand the yarn buying does that right? Is there another way we can support them apart from buying yarn? If we're now able to mail from Canada again I'll be sending some plastic yarn needles along in my next package so I know that will help too. But am I missing any other ways to help them? Thanks in advance. :)
Okay checked the link above, looks like I've seen all the ways to help. Are we still paying the Gogo's a small stipend per blanket? I've always loved that idea.
Jeanne, thank you for shopping at the KAS Shop. What a great idea to make a shop purchase to honor your son's girlfriend on her birthday. I hope she has a lovely one and her year ahead is filled with many blessings ... xo
Just did another donation (yarn and fruit this time)...happy to be helping and it looks like post is moving so I can send some squares soon too. God bless all of you for all you're doing. We all need to make the world a little brighter in our own ways you gals and guys are sure doing that. Power to you all!!! Love and hugs! xxxooo
Thank you very much for this. It is so cheering to have optimism in our horizons, and share what good fortune we have to help others. Get those square off on their way, it'll be another good deed for the day/month!
Well girls Thank you so much for your prompt attention to this discussion. So many folk will be so grateful for your donations, Kxx
Today in the mail I received a gift of wool from someone who has a vast stash - too much for their needs. It is a substantial amount and is so beautiful............so I'm popping to the shop now to support our Gogo's in lieu of a huge Thank You - you know who you are! X X
