HAPPINESS DAYCARE

One of Mabel's distributions along with Itireleng and Matabo - no detailed report, but some lovely photographs!

ITIRELENG DISTRIBUTION

From the time we first met Mabel in Evaton, far south of Johannesburg, where she lives and organises multiple gogo sewing groups, she has been a keen and supportive KAS person!

MEET THE KAS FAMILY

This new segment will take the place of our Square Heart Award.

Meet the KAS Family will introduce you to KAS supporters - individuals, groups, schools, volunteers, and caregivers - from around the world.

For any of you who may be new to our forum (and for those of you who already know this wonderful lady) we will begin at the beginning.  Please meet our ...

A Near Disaster with a Happy Ending

FIRST ...

AND THEN ...

SO NOW ...

Unfortunately, the flood hindered our opening process and delayed our squares list.  We apologize for this hold-up.  We will get these things sorted just as soon as we possibly can.  Thank you for your patience.

Our volunteers will be in for a busy time when they finally are able to get to it all!

FEBRUARY MAY BE LITTLE, BUT IT'S MIGHTY!  THERE'S A LOT GOING ON THIS MONTH.  FIRST OF ALL, WE HAVE OUR

February Theme in Progress ...

PASSION FOR PURPLE

You will be amazed at how many shades of purple there are ... and how pink and blue figure into the mix!  Here's a small sample of what our crafters have produced so far this month.

    <> <> <>

We also have our ongoing TOY STORYYour response has been so wonderful that our poor Amy has had to crawl up into the attic and dig out another toy box!  However, she assures us that she didn't mind a bit!  She no sooner got the lid up than it started filling up with more fabulous contributions!

If you would like to toss in a toy or two, there's still lots of time.  Amy has promised not to close the lid until the end of April!

And last but not least, we have our KAS Kontest.  Make a pair of handwarmers, post a photo of them, and pick a number for a chance to win a shopping spree in our KAS Shop!

MARCH PATTERN OF THE MONTH

To coincide with our upcoming March theme, the pattern of the month is

HEARTS

Knitted Heart Square pattern by Christine Johnson (UK)

Show a child just how much they are loved, by rendering a heart right into their blanket square.

Crochet Puffed Heart Square pattern by Rachel Andrus (USA)

Or add a heart motif to a square. The heart is a lovely way to show the children you care, by sending them a little love.

Crochet Heart Motif pattern by Anneke (Netherlands)

All three patterns are available in

The KAS Pattern Book

where other patterns are available.  Feel free to try as many as you like.

KAS SHOP

There are many items in our shop to choose from.

Every dollar you spend in The KAS Shop is a direct donation to a child through

Knit-a-Square.

"Wouldn't you love to experience the joy of placing a warm handmade blanket around the shoulders of a cold child? How lovely it would be to put a soft, warm hat on a little head, pull hand-warmers on over tiny, chilly hands, and tuck a soft toy next to a child’s heart.

Unfortunately most of us live too far away to do this, so we count on Ronda and our volunteers to do this for us.
But you can put our arms around a child by sponsoring a child during a distribution. For just $10, you can give a child the assurance that someone cares and that he or she is loved."

This month, why not open your heart and

 Sponsor a Child

during a distribution.

COLOR PLAY

is serious stuff!

Have you ever wondered why variegated yarns will sometimes end up in interesting designs, when at other times they just seem to dance all over your work?  Wonder no more!  Andrea has provided us with the answer.  Check out the valuable information in the

KasBlog.
