KAS-KRISTMAS IS HERE!
You are invited to our “Christmas Party” right here on the Forum.
It’s a time to gather, share thoughts with our KASfriends, and have some fun.
We hope some of you who like rhyming might pen a poem (or feel free to add one you have read and loved).
Share your favourite Christmas joke or cartoon,
your favourite family tradition,
a photo of your Christmas tree or your pet in holiday garb,
your Christmas wish,
your secret for surviving this very busy season,
… anything that tickles your fancy, to get us all in the holiday mood.
This is a ‘feel good’ discussion – our Christmas gift to one another. So grab a cuppa,
put on your thinking cap (Christmassy of course!)
and join in our celebration of KAS, one another, and this joyous season.

I'll start the celebration by re-posting this wonderful poem. It has appeared on the forum before, but is worth reading over and over again.
ONE SQUARE FOR AN ELBOW - A KAS BLANKET -POEM
One square for an elbow, one for an arm,
One for a shoulder, to help keep it warm.
One for a wrist and one for a knee,
One for a hip - just how hard can this be?
One for a bicep, I nearly forgot!
Where is that green yarn I know that I bought?
One for an ankle and one for a thigh,
One for a shin - a square blue as the sky!
Now one for a bottom to help keep it warm,
Whatever the weather with sunshine or storm,
With violet? Or yellow? as warm as the sun,
Then double these numbers - and two sides are done!
Next, one for the left chest, one for the right,
Two for the tummy with colours so bright.
One for each collarbone, one for each hand,
With love for a child in a far-away land.
Four more for the back and one for the neck,
Have I finished knitting? Just count them to check.
Thirty-five squares created with love,
And maybe an extra, - could I knit a dove?
If I can’t do a blanket, I can knit a square,
If I cover an elbow, there are others here,
We circle the planet and work one by one,
To send in our parcels - a blanket is done!!
With love to all at KAS
and the wonderful people who join up the squares
- Bless you, every one!

This is well worth reposting. Thank you, Arlene and Anne.
Thanks for reposting this, Anne. I LOVE this poem!!.........and I am off to take a pic of Bonnie (my dog) in her new Christmas t-shirt I bought her the other day.....hee hee hee
Can't wait to see your photo of Bonnie, Bev! I hope we might do a photo shoot tomorrow when Meeka's best friend, Briar, and her family are coming for lunch. I'll have to visit the pet store today to find her something suitable to wear.
Last week, after much whining on a cold, windy day, I crocheted her a 'coat' in red and white. Imagine trying to dress a cube on four legs - she really is quite square. The coat is rather hideous because I started with a large square for the back and added a chest/tummy panel with straps that button up over her back. The design is efficient and she likes wearing it, but it rather has an 'Anne of Green Gables' look. The two points over her shoulders stick out a bit and are a doggy version of 'puffed sleeves'. Suitable, I suppose, since we live in Leaskdale where LMM wrote some of her Anne books., but definitely not my most successful crochet project.
If I manage to move past my embarrassment, I will post a picture.
You just have to post a pic, Anne!! I am giggling so much over your description, I have to see it for myself......promise not to laugh. :))
Here is Bonnie...photos taken outside on a mat at sunset....the green is a bright lime (almost like hi-viz work clothes), but the camera chose to 'tone it down'.
Trying to get her to sit still long enough, along with a very slow camera shutter and a 'low battery' icon flashing red, didn't make for the best photo shoot!! :))
Jude, is this a poem that was posted on our forum? Or is this something you saw online in general? I just did a quick online search and couldn't find anything. Do you remember any of the lines? Perhaps we can find it! xo
Bev, what a little gem Bonnie is. And her little 'elf' Christmas sweater is just sweet!
I can just picture you with a camera in one hand, waving at Bonnie to 'sit' with the other hand, and Bonnie twisting and turning, wondering what all the fuss was about ... hahaha Thank you for your persistence, Bev. The photo is well worth it! xo
Bonnie surely is a wee cutie. She looks very Elfish in her sweater. Meeka is pouting - she wants one too.
Thanks Bev for sharing your very festive Bonnie, what a cutie! :))

This item will allow Knit-a-Square to pay our wonderful co-team workers – the Gogos (grandmothers) – to sew the squares received from across the globe into blankets for the children. $5 US will pay for 4 blankets to be stitched together.
