The Knit-a-square program has inspired volunteers in more than 60 countries to knit and crochet more than 1.5 million blanket squares, hats, hand-warmers and toys. Your efforts are helping to keep the children warm but to keep this operation running every day, we need to extend your love and support.
Your donations are the backbone of financial support for the operations on the ground in South Africa, making it possible for them to continue.
Whether it's helping to pay the rent, a stipend for the gogos to sew blankets, fuel for the KasVan or to cover postal charges of $3.75 US per parcel, you make it possible to keep striving toward warming and comforting the children.
Our goal is to remove the monthly deficit that Ronda and her team have to deal with.
1. Make a donation whenever you are able.
2. Sign up for an ongoing monthly donation (subscription).
3. Shop at the KasShop!
Please follow this discussion for monthly updates, current financial reports and ideas on what we can all do to help.
Lucky you, Lesley. I could make a blanket cake of my own.
Hope it won't be too long before the overseas mail is flowing again - just think how wonderful the barn is going to look when all those waiting parcels arrive :))
Would it be helpful to buy some yarn from the shop for the ladies who are in lockdown to be able to use? I assume that you cn buy and get delivery, which may not be the case I realise.
yes would be happy to donate to that (I've always hoped that more of the squares would come from SA as the transportation is not sustainable) and are you still looking for specific lockdown relief donations?
I've just sent $28 via pay pal - normally it lets me leave a note but this time it didn't. Just to say the donation was prompted by discussion with Mabel on Facebook and the squares made by gogos from KAS yarn but Mabel saying she was running out of yarn. If possible can this donation help top up Mabel's yarn supplies? thanks mary
Thank you, Mary, for your kind donation.
However, Ronda would like me to pass along that "we will not be searching PAYPAL donations to look specifically for a donation for Mabel or anyone else at KAS, particularly board members."
Furthermore, there is plenty of wool at KAS. There are some internal issues that need to be ironed out on the board but please rest assured that there is no shortage.
thanks Andrea - glad that there are no yarn shortages!
The financials have been updated above.
A note from Ronda, dated August 18:
"The move has gone so well but it will take another month to truly sort things out properly !
We are actually taking a 5 day break up at Kruger Park since the government moved us to Lockdown level 2 as of yesterday, which allows interprovincial travel.
Estelle and Athele are doing a wonderful job looking after the Barn … they have the keys and it has been so helpful to let go for a while."
Here is the expenses breakdown for July:
Thank you for the update, Andrea. Was sorry to hear that we were at a loss last month....I have just popped into the shop.
I imagine things may become a little busier soon in the KAS Barn, with more countries now being able to resume posting, here's hoping our funding can support that.
