WELCOME TO
AROUND THE WORLD
What a wondrous world we live in. Full of intriguing and interesting landscapes, both natural and manmade. From the mountains to the seas, from the newest cities to the oldest civilizations. This month we will take a trip around the world, discovering new and/or interesting sights....from the smallest flower to the largest structures. We can explore the many things that make our countries unique.
Our special events this month include Mandela Day, when we honour the late, great, Nelson Mandela.......
and the gathering of the world at the Olympic Games.
Our Colour of the Month (CoM) is BLUE. I had many colours in my stash that were a questionable blue, but on googling 'blue' I discovered a site listing 144!! I'm all good. :)) Here is a little sample from the site. I'm sure we all must have a little in our stash.
Please remember the importance of our Plain Jane squares in the blankets that are created. Perhaps make some in blue or a colour/s inspired by something in your landscape or somewhere you have visited. Have fun...and please share with us.

I think the blanket is wonderful as it is. Anyone will be glad to have this treasure.
Thank you for this FABULOUS blanket for our July theme, Sandra. xo
Personally, I LOVE how you have done the diagonal stripes and wouldn't change a thing. :))
I did try to upload it here for you yesterday arvo, but was having trouble with the internet dropping out. :(( Thanks Amy for doing so.
Oh my goodness!!! What a STUNNER, Sharon!! I cannot begin to imagine how you did this....the level of concentration required would be absurd, I imagine. I have 'blown it up' and my eyes just feel dizzy trying to take it all in....but then trying to follow a pattern for this???????? Surely you must have had a pattern. Well done you!!
Yes, do tell, Sharon. I can't work out if it would be easier/harder to follow a pattern or make it up as you go along! Incredible work, and I love the border.
Thanks for your kind words. Of course I followed a chart, because I'm not creative enough to come up with something like this on my own. Here is the site: Chic Sheep Day Dream Blanket-FREE Crochet Chic Sheep Blanket - Marl...
I tried to match the colors as close as possible, but used what I had in my overflowing stash. Unfortunately, the stash is still overflowing. I have begun to delete those yarn sale emails without even looking! (Well, at least for a week or two...) I hope it doesn't cause Attention Deficit Disorder in the whole creche.
That is absolutely amazing Sharon, the children will love those colours. You certainly come up with the most original blankets.
A real beauty, Sharon. I’ve been looking at lots of patterns to use up some of my smaller balls of yarn, which seem to have increased dramatically since I’ve been making the C2C picture squares, but haven’t come across this one.
Beautiful example of a gifted crocheters creations. I love this one. Hats off + mega kudos Sharon X
Two of our most cute and cuddly and much loved Aussie icons. The kangaroo and koala. Here is a favourite memory from my early childhood.

Yes, I remember Skippy. That's a very cheeky looking koala, Bev!

"CreateCare Global has set itself two tasks. The first is physical: to bring hope, support and comfort to children for whom poverty and loss are everyday tormentors. The second, and in our view equally important, is to spread the message to the world."
