WELCOME TO
AROUND THE WORLD
What a wondrous world we live in. Full of intriguing and interesting landscapes, both natural and manmade. From the mountains to the seas, from the newest cities to the oldest civilizations. This month we will take a trip around the world, discovering new and/or interesting sights....from the smallest flower to the largest structures. We can explore the many things that make our countries unique.
Our special events this month include Mandela Day, when we honour the late, great, Nelson Mandela.......
and the gathering of the world at the Olympic Games.
Our Colour of the Month (CoM) is BLUE. I had many colours in my stash that were a questionable blue, but on googling 'blue' I discovered a site listing 144!! I'm all good. :)) Here is a little sample from the site. I'm sure we all must have a little in our stash.
Please remember the importance of our Plain Jane squares in the blankets that are created. Perhaps make some in blue or a colour/s inspired by something in your landscape or somewhere you have visited. Have fun...and please share with us.

Loving your penguin and Love-Peace squares, Bev. That pretty much says it all, especially when things seem so stirred up at the moment.
Another set of beautiful squares!
Your squares are BEAUTIFUL, Patricia!! I LOVE that shade of blue in the c2c. I don't think we get that shade over here. It is just soooo pretty. :))
Yes, I agree about that shade, Bev. It's Stylecraft Special DK in Aster. I don't know how widely available that is in other countries.
One of my favourites, too, Patricia. The yarn is available here in South Africa, but at about three times the UK price!
How frustrating, Lesley. I order mine from Wool Warehouse. I see they do deliver to South Africa but the postage cost is very high which rather defeats the object.

It is a lovely website to just browse and drool though!
Yes, I love Wool Warehouse, I've bought from them when in the UK, although they weren't delivering to SA when I last had dealings with them. I have, in desperation, bought from Deramores, when I had earned a substantial discount from them, but otherwise the cost is prohibitive, and it takes up to two months for parcels to arrive! Frustratingly, I still have some Stylecraft yarn at my son's home, but dont know when I'll be able to collect it!
Beautiful blue squares Patricia.
Lovely blues, Patricia. Is that the circle of friends pattern? I really like it in a single colour, very effective.
No, Marion, it's Antique Pearls (also by Priscilla Hewitt), which I find squares off better than Circle of Friends.
