Any thoughts anyone? Stash buster spring clean for the new year perhaps? Can we all try to use up the bits of yarn we keep shoving to the bottom of the pile?

I just looked at the January 2011 calendar, no challenge there. There's a lovely quote by Nelson Mandela:

If there are dreams about a beautiful South Africa, there are also roads that lead to their goal. Two of these roads could be named Goodness and Forgiveness.

Where is the on line calender please?

I'm sending you one Beth - be posted on Tuesday.
Well I have just started finshing of unfinished garments [slipoversjumpers and the like]so stashbusting would do me fine. I like Colours of Hope too because I am sure there will be some fabulous colours coming up if people use the ends of their balls or left over balls. I have tons of them! Lovely quote too Mary.I am sure those blankets wll be making a more beautiful  South Africa with  Goodness and Hope and colour! We need forgiveness too for the poverty and the lack of medicine for AIDS.We have poverty here too and respiratory illnesses occur where there is inadequate warmth. It is so important to give the little ones warmth. As Sandy says the squares are the currency of hope.
Okay.  How about Colors of Hope Stashbusting then?  And I love that hat Mary!

Here's a square pattern I made up that works well for using up your yarn stash.

Mary, I hope you don't mind but I just "Featured" your square pattern as it is easy, solid and lends itself to excellent stashbusting. :)

Thank you! I'm honored to have a pattern featured.

:)

Gorgeous Mary.

I am hoping to aquire some stashes in the next few weeks from other people who are having a clear out so with a bit of luck there will be lots of bits to use up.

Yay Jeni!

:)

You made this up?  It's wonderful!  If these are all the same pattern, different by using more than 1 yarn, I am in awe!

Thanks Dawne! yes, they are all the same pattern, just alternating colors... with this pattern, since there are no "rows" or "rounds", you can just attach a new color at any point when you run out of the previous color. That way, you can really use up any little bits of yarn you have. The only problem is that you have to weave in the ends, and that takes a bit of patience, as we all know!
