Hello everybody, my name is Ruth I am 97years young and I live at Nicholas House.  I can do just as I please ha ha! Its great to know that our knitting is appreciated in so many places it makes what we are doing worth while. It is also great that so many people are in touch with Chris, she and Trevor and a young lady called Charlie do so much for us residents.  I am still knitting my socks off and hope to send more squares soon.  Love to you all. Ruth

  • Hi Ruth, So glad you are still able to knit and for a great cause. My Mom is 104yrs old but can't see good enough to crochet anymore but she is asble to stuff pillows I make to send to Germany to Landstahl Regional Medical Center and they are used to prop up injured arms and legs of injured soldiers. So at 104 1/2 yrs. young she is an American Red Cross volunteer as they distribute the pillows and it makes her feel useful. She stuffed 9 pillows last night. We do this once a week and she looks forward to it. She lives in a Skilled Nursing Home I retired working from. Her home does not have any activities that she can do other than listen to music.

    • Jan, what a wonderful thing to include your mother in. I admire all those ideas to help people around here have. Which proves to me that nothing is too little when it is done to spread the love and help someone else. What an inspiration you all are to me!!!

  • Why, you little Whippersnapper, you!  How wonderful to have you with us - knitting your socks off!  Isn't it wonderful to know our knitting goes so far to help the children?!  The blankets are sll so warm looking and colorful.  Welcome to this happy family of knitters and crocheters!  Looking forward to more pictures of your fabulous work!

  • Thanks for getting in touch Ruth. My Mum turns 97 in June but her hands are too arthriticy for her to knit. We certainly appreciate the work you and your young friends do for KAS and we love to have new forum members. It helps to keep the gossip lively!.

  • Thank you Ruth for getting in touch and for using your skill to make a difference to the lives of some unfortunate children. Your knitting certainly is appreciated and I hope you enjoy looking at the photographs and seeing what is being achieved by this team of caring ladies, of which you and the other residents are a part.

  • So wonderful to hear from you Ruth!!  What a star you are - and all the residents knitting for KAS - it is so much appreciated - never too old or too young - a great example to us all.   We look forward to hearing from more of the girls! x
