Hi and thank you for all the welcomes.  This is the first forum I've been in, so am still finding my way.

I've got some new hand knitted items I've bought at craft stalls and op shops (can't resist them!) and was looking for someone who might find them useful to give them to.  KAS is perfect!  Included is a bag of about 110 knitted 5"x9" 'rectangles'.  I could sew 48 of them into a rug 40"x54", almost the same as you'd get from 5x7 rows of 8" squares.  Actually I could make 2 rugs like this, or maybe make some simple garments.  Does that sound OK, or would it be better to just send them as is, unsewn?

I'm also knitting squares for KAS now, and am looking forward to trying a rug made from felted squares.  I'm happy to be part of KAS!

  • Yes, these articles sound perfect for KAS, Vim. As Sue has said the squares are best  sent as they are, as sewn-together blankets attract a greater customs duty at the other end..and as KAS runs on a shoe-string budget there is very little money available to pay additional duty.

We are all guilty of buying little bargain goodies that we come across...it is addictive and FUN! and the children are sooo appreciative of anything we can offer them.

Just love your enthusiasm..... and bless your caring heart. :)

  • Hi there Jill. It aways costs more to send made up blankets so I am sure it would be fine to post them as they are, maybe with a note inside giving the number and size. You will fit in here just fine most Kasfolk are unable to resist buying goodies from op shops and such places !!!! I have to admit I was about to leave for the local evening market when I decided to check KAS first as a means of stalling myself from further spending !

    • But I did go and I got 4 pairs of socks. The seller was very keen to tell me over and over that they came from Korea so I guess they will have had a world trip before they get to SA!

    • Thanks, Sue.  Good point, so I'll just send them with note.  I prefer knitting to sewing up anyway.
