Hi! My name is Martha and I am a stay at home mom and foster caregiver. I have 2 wonderful kids, my daughter, Madison 7 and my son, Cameron 10 and am fostering a cute little girl of 4. I am also fostering a miniature poodle for a rescue organization. We are animal lovers and have 2 dogs, 2 cats and a mouse.

I found KAS on Pinterest and was interested right away. I learned how to crochet as a girl and over the years have picked it up and put it down so many times. Just recently I started crocheting again because my foster daughter found a naked Cabbage Patch doll that she called "Baldy" and I promised her some clothes. I will have to post that picture for you all to see. Well since then I have been making beanies, scarves, a dress and shirt, a shrug and of course these squares. It is very soothing to crochet. I like to do it while watching TV or as a passenger in a car. I am excited to send some in soon and am trying to get a group of friends to start a group of our own. I've been "advertising" KAS on facebook and Pinterest so hopefully others will find you just like I did.

Keep up the good work. I am pleased to join such a loving organization.

Martha :)

  • Hi Martha, Welcome from Ohio.  Glad you joined us. I have lots of pets too. 1 cat of mine and 2 of my daughters, 1 dog, a pony and a goat.

When my daughter was little she had a Cabbage Patch doll. The dolls all came with a specific name that could be changed if the child did not like the name. My daughter changed hers name. We saw one at a garage sale last week and she remembered doing that,

Be sure and join the US group if you haven't already. Just click on  groups at the top of the page and you will find it. You can join more than one group.

  • Martha...so glad you found KAS. Sounds like you have a full life...always looking for ways to help others, human and otherwise! I'm glad you joined us!

  • Wonderful to have you Martha and thanks for introducing yourself. Lovely that you are taking care of a child so kindly, so many foster children aren't as lucky as yours.

Thanks for getting involved and I hope that Baldy is warm soon!

  • Lovely to see you getting into KAS Martha - yes, we are a loving organisation and we attract lots of loving people like yourself!  Fostering children and a little poodle sounds very fulfilling, but you must have a big heart to take them on!  It is good to knit or crochet whilst watching TV, then you don't feel so guilty about it.  Glad to see you are spreading-the-word and hopefully, before too long, you'll have a group.

  • Hi Martha...from Western Australia.

We are so glad you have joined us in this wonderful cause.

Wow! You have such a warm and generous heart.

I have seen your gorgeous 'first' square in the photo section...the colours in it were beautiful.

I can fully appreciate the soothing nature of crocheting, I find that when knitting.

I look forward to seeing more pics from you and I hope you enjoy being 'one of us'.

    Bev. :-)
