October 2013 marks the 5th anniversary of KAS.
Let us raise our hooks and needles to 2 creative women who turned the desire to provide warmth and comfort to Orphaned and Vulnerable Children into a reality:
Here’s to Ronda and Sandy !
Five years of giving children and their carers hope and dignity. . .
One square at a time
Click here to view a short video of Jamey receiving his blanket.
The trickle soon became a river as more and more people from around the world sent squares.
In 2013, Knit-a-Square was on the receiving side.
First, just when Ronda’s car gave up,
the KASvan was given to Knit-a-Square by G4S.
Ronda’s little car had driven thousands of kilometres to deliver blankets to areas where few people travelled.
Her faithful companion could now be retired.
These lovingly made squares sent by you, the knitters and crocheters translate into hundreds and, indeed, thousands of blankets.
You've bought light and hope to thousands of carers and Gogos - the grandmothers who are responsible for their orphaned grandchildren
and to women who, with little support, set up the daycare centres to give the children a fighting chance at life.
In 5 years, Knit-a-Square has warmed close to 20,000 babies and children!
Please continue to send squares as we need thousands of blankets to bring comfort to the many, many children who have not been yet been reached.
Let's celebrate the 6th anniversary with thousands more children wrapped in warm blankets !

Fantastic Linda and I love the graph!
5 years, that is quite a milestone!
I love the graph too, very visual with the piles of blankets picture used to show the growth of KAS.
Even though I have only been with KAS for about 2 and a 1/2 of the 5 years, I look forward to being with it for a long time to come.
I LOVE the personal touch I get with KAS, reports, photo's the Square lists and more recently E mails acknowledging receipt of my parcels. It is really good to actually see the difference your contributions make.
Kudos Ronda, Sandy and all the other volunteers in SA for getting KAS started and their commitment to keeping it going.
I am a very new members and it is just wonderful to see just how much can be achieved just one square at a time I to most go knit
Linda - it is Sunday morning, and I have just trawled through the worldwide death, misery and depression that the media likes to call "The News". I then came on here and read your wonderfully uplifting account of the KAS story over the last 5 years, and my faith in human nature has been restored. Thank you so much.
Happy Anniversary Knit-a-Square!
In the last five years you have changed the lives of thousands of children that the world had forgotten.
You have also changed the lives of each of us who has knit one square or hundreds, in ways I am sure you never imagined, by letting us be a part of this miraculous project.
Thank you for your faith, your courage and your extraordinary determination!
Right on, Laurie, could not have said it better! :) At KAS miracles happen daily, in our lives, in theirs...it's a shower of blessings all around.
love,
Jeanne
Beautifully said Laurie and so true!! <3
You make my heart sing Kas
This is beautiful, Linda. It's exactly what I need to hand out to people at the fundraisers I participate in.
What an amazing and wonderful tribute to two amazing and wonderful ladies! Well done Linda! And thank you, Ronda and Sandy, for coming up with a perfect opportunity to give back and help these children. The growth and "reach" of KAS ,in just five years, is simply miraculous! KUDOS to everyone!!
XOXO
I've enjoyed reading all the lovely comments. We certainly couldn't miss this milestone !

The Donate button provides 2 options:
Because of PayPal/banking fees, KAS asks that your donation be 5USD [or more]. Anything less, means your donation is eaten up with fees. Thank you!
Our goal is to remove the monthly deficit that Ronda and her team have to deal with. You can:
1. Make a donation whenever you are able.
2. Sign up for an ongoing monthly donation (subscription).
3. Shop at the KasShop!

"CreateCare Global has set itself two tasks. The first is physical: to bring hope, support and comfort to children for whom poverty and loss are everyday tormentors. The second, and in our view equally important, is to spread the message to the world."
Our thanks to CreateCare Global for supporting the Square Circle Forum and helping to spread the wonderful work that KAS does.
