At the end of July Estelle put out this post to Karen Gordon...

Karen I remember opening a box of approximately 50 pairs of hand warmers from you.  If you have any more small balls of yarn we’d love some hand warmers from our star knitter….we have suddenly run out of them.

Several of us jumped on board and said we would like to help out, too.

Please join us with the challenge to

The Barn is currently out of hand-warmers and our volunteers are making distributions without them.

With the current issues with post arriving to The Barn we need to restock our supply of hand-warmers.

Every year KAS tries to distribute 5,000 blankets to children. These need hand-warmers to go with them.

Included in this introduction are some hand-warmers that have been posted by member since Estelle's request.

We are adding them to our total.

Let's color in our hands to reach 500 pairs of HAND-WARMERS made for the children.

TOTAL - 500+

Thank you everyone...WE DID IT!

Way to Go Team KAS!

You can post a photo or just let us know how

many you will be posting to South Africa.

Please do, as I still have a dozen 'in production'....did I mention I hate sewing.....hahaha.

Lets keep it running at least until the end of will be fun to see all various color combinations come in.

I agree the more the merrier to keep need for them prominent.      Also,  we certainly don't want folk to think:  that's it, problem solved, no more for now.........  Regular supplies of them are always needed.    Kx

2 more pairs of hand warmers for me. I have finished the blanket I was working on, and will do some more now using up left overs. Again there is a dark blue pair the same as some I have made before, but they are a new pair.

Not sure if we are still counting, but I get a total now of 523 with my 2 and the ones from Amy and sharon B.

Wonderful contribution Wendy.  Can't wait to see what you make with your leftover.

New Total 523

What an amazing team of contributors we have. To have reached 523 so quickly is heartwarming….thank you!

7 more pairs from me. Mostly made with left over yarn from recent blankets. Colours don't look right as usual, another dull cloudy day today. The green is not as pale as it looks in the photo.

Total now: 530

Wendy, you are always so generous in your time and talent, making so many incredible hand-warmers for the children.

This is another bumper crop of beauty.

A great collection.   I love the variety of stripe patterns, and the variegated stripes add extra zing.

Ditto what others have said Wendy ✔️

A set of 16 pairs of handwarmers made based around some electric blue -

and another 6 pairs made entirely with leftovers of blues.

Total 552

Such happy news as these just keep pouring in.

Many thanks to everyone for carrying on, the children so need these in the winter and on cold nights.
