At the end of July Estelle put out this post to Karen Gordon...

Karen I remember opening a box of approximately 50 pairs of hand warmers from you.  If you have any more small balls of yarn we’d love some hand warmers from our star knitter….we have suddenly run out of them.

Several of us jumped on board and said we would like to help out, too.

Please join us with the challenge to

MAKE 500 HAND-WARMERS

FOR KAS

The Barn is currently out of hand-warmers and our volunteers are making distributions without them.

With the current issues with post arriving to The Barn we need to restock our supply of hand-warmers.

Every year KAS tries to distribute 5,000 blankets to children. These need hand-warmers to go with them.

Included in this introduction are some hand-warmers that have been posted by member since Estelle's request.

We are adding them to our total.

Let's color in our hands to reach 500 pairs of HAND-WARMERS made for the children.

TOTAL - 500+

Thank you everyone...WE DID IT!

Way to Go Team KAS!

You can post a photo or just let us know how

many you will be posting to South Africa.

You are very kind, but it feels like a paltry offering when others do 10 or more pairs lol

It's not like that at all, no competition here.    Every single pair counts + will be precious ✔️

No worries, Sadie,   As Karen said, it isn't a competition.   You probably do much more in other ways -- work, family, community.    I'm retired so have more time available.    And I crochet my handwarmers, which is much faster for me.   If I were knitting them, I'd be lucky to have one pair per month!

That is my dream - to be able to retire and spend all day knitting and crocheting! I tried crocheting hand warmers but they were too "chunky" for my liking. I need to go back and try again with different yarn.

Certainly, no competition.  Every pair is so welcome and gives for a great variety

Took a break from Hand warmers to finish up a blanket, but am back to them now. So here are the latest 2. Rainbow and purple with rainbow stripes. Got to do some for boys now as usual I seem to end up with more colours suited to girls!

Total now should be: 407

So pretty!

I'm so impresseed by the number of handwarmers done in in less than two months!

J'ai 10 nouvelles paires de chauffe-mains tricotées mais hélas pas de photos à vous envoyer

parce que l'informatique est moi nous sommes fâchés !!!

J'ai voulu écrire l'informatique et moi ... J'écris trop vite ...

Oh, Mireille, you gave me a good laugh.   Don't we all get angry at these computers???   They let us have this worldwide community, but they also drive us crazy!

Les couleurs des chauffe-mains de Wendy sont magnifiques !

"CreateCare Global has set itself two tasks. The first is physical: to bring hope, support and comfort to children for whom poverty and loss are everyday tormentors. The second, and in our view equally important, is to spread the message to the world."
