In February we like to think of ways to show our loved ones that we care.

The most common way to show our affection is with a hug

And a heart

Our children in South Africa deserve a big hug and a wonderful way to give one is by making a square.

Each child receives 35 hugs when a blanket is wrapped around their shoulders.

This month we will be sending our blanket hugs with extra love.

We will be adding hearts!

Here are patterns that you might like to try !

Or perhaps you will create your own heart square.

Not into hearts?

Why not make one of your beautiful Plain Jane squares in the traditional February colours of pink, red and white.

We may not be there to give each child a personal hug

But we can send the next best thing...a blanket hug.

Happy Valentine's Day from "Valentino"!
He is holding a little heart valentine for Christine's Ms. Kitty. It was love at first sight! :-)

This is the Crochet Illusion Smiley I promised. This is try #487 (more or less ... mostly less ... hahaha) I did tear out and start over many, many times, though.  However, I am not sure I like the way crochet "illusions" ... LOL The design is not nearly as subtle as when knitted. But since I said I would do it, I did it :)) xo

And here is the same Crochet Smiley square from straight on. You can see how the "illusion" isn't as subtle as the knitted version.

And another little heart tucked into the corner ... this time peach-colored.

More of the bright fluorescent colors, in diagonal pattern. The added flowers are called "Sweetheart Love Flower" and each petal is supposed to look like a heart :)

Heart in pink and white, just single crochet.

I take the opportunity to thank you all for your encouring and heartwarming compliments on my previous heart squares and Go-Over. I don't have much time to be logged in on the forum, but from time to time I take a look and see all the wonderful heart squares in all varieties and other beautiful squares and garments passing by.  Love to you all xoxo

Three more red, white and pink squares.

My 15th square this month.

A lot of snow and a busted computer meant lots of knitting!  43 in this picture and I still have a little more pink and red yarn left, so a couple more to come.

A beautiful square by Karla and a beautiful comment:

I was inspired by all KAS knitters. We are also from different countries all over the world, but we don´t compete - we cooperate. We don´t want to be better than others, but we help/advise each other. Sometimes, when I read your comments, I have tears in my eyes. Thank you, fellow knitters, for your kindness.

Here is another one of Karla's delightful squares.

be my Valentine

I am having so much fun making these diagonal crocheted squares. Made these two squares in a day. It is so quick and easy. I am following pattern at this link:

My first granny heart.

It was a new and exciting challenge for me, without KAS I never would have experienced the fun of making this square:)

"CreateCare Global has set itself two tasks. The first is physical: to bring hope, support and comfort to children for whom poverty and loss are everyday tormentors. The second, and in our view equally important, is to spread the message to the world."
