Great idea!

Facebook message from Sue Dales, Gosport.

Hello KAS team, just found you on FB. Another 3 packages are on their way. We are now allowed to go out officially at work and ask for wool donations so we can carry on - it is great fun

Comment from Carolyn Barcus Booth - Oregon, USA on KAS Facebook page.

Please check out this web site. All you knitters......a painless way to contribute to helping children.

More vintage photos - Facebook page found by Mary K. Lokken : Bette Davis and her stand-in between takes. Looks like one is knitting and the other is crocheting

Message on KAS Facebook page from Susan Purinton Meyer - Portland USA

I look forward to being a part of mission.

Message from Joybelle Malcolm USA

I am so blessed to be a crochet partner of knit-a-square. When I see those little innocent faces, tears flow because in the USA many complain of not having enough, yet across the waters there are so many who have nothing. Crocheting the squares are so simple and fast, I hope new members join and commit daily.

KAS Facebook message from Estelle McLachlan (South Africa)

Just this week, November 29th, sent off 127 squares (plus 14 sets of baby booties) to the Soweto Comfort Club.

Message from Carrie Owen - Cheshire, Oregon USA - Jana kindly answered.

Hi just found the site today and forget the holiday knitting . . . got a couple of questions tho' . . . not sure my yarn is warm enough . . is your basic worsted acrylic red heart yarn knit in the garter stitch sufficient or should I double strand it . . .I am committed on this one square but can change in future if suggested . . .thanks

B'You Ballarat, Victoria

remember Margaret from Ballarat's Knitty Gritty group for young knitters? Well... Margaret and friends spread the word around town and we now have over 2000 squares... 255+ knitted hats... jumpers, vests, mittens... all heading to South Africa :) we'll send them over the coming weeks in smaller bundles

Facebook support from Xtreme Lashes Austrlia

Can you knit? Why not help a cold child this Christmas.

Anne Lokken shared this interesting news on Facebook :

The male prisoners of the Pre-Release Unit in Jessup, Maryland knit hats and dolls for children in need.

My all-time favourite knitting book "Knitting for Peace" by Betty Christiansen has a chapter on knitting in USA prisons...and specifically male prisons where knitting is used as part of anger management programmes. Looking at it again, various states do Knitting Behind Bars. Does it happen anywhere in the UK I wonder? I liked their you think they'd share the pattern?! Or knit for KAS?

The Donate button provides 2 options:

  1. One time donation
  2. Monthly subscription               [click the box]

Because of PayPal/banking fees, KAS asks that your donation be 5USD [or more].  Anything less, means your donation is eaten up with fees.  Thank you!

Our goal is to remove the monthly deficit that Ronda and her team have to deal with. You can:

1. Make a donation whenever you are able.

2. Sign up for an ongoing monthly donation (subscription).

3. Shop at the KasShop!

"CreateCare Global has set itself two tasks. The first is physical: to bring hope, support and comfort to children for whom poverty and loss are everyday tormentors. The second, and in our view equally important, is to spread the message to the world."

Our thanks to CreateCare Global for supporting the Square Circle Forum and helping to spread the wonderful work that KAS does.
