Hi All, I have enjoyed reading everybodies blogs and thought I would have a go at creating my own.  Some of my blogging will about knitting and some will be general stuff about my life and my lovely family.

A little about myself :  I am 36 years (arggh) years old and I am lucky enough to live in a beautiful rural town in the county of Northamptonshire in the U.K.  I have a great husband called Christopher and  two beautiful children.  Freya is nearly 5 and William in nearly 3.  I am a qualified teacher, but gave up work to bring up our children at home, something I really believe in doing.

Knitting is something that has always being around me due to my fantastic 86 year old grandma although I hadn't knitted myself for many years..  About this time I last year I was inspired by a friend to take up the needles and start knitting again.  My Grandma still knits for my children, so I started searching for somehting to kn it for  and found Knit a square.  I ahve really enjoyed being part of this community and it has definately made me much more aware of the plight of others.  Even my daughter is aware of the children we knit for and she always likes to look at the photos in the ezines.

Oh well, thats all I have got time to write today as the children need their bedtime stories.  Night all.x

  • Hi All

Jen - Thank you for your comments. Nice to hear from a fellow teacher

Well, its being quite a productive day here. I have washed and dried the families bedding, cleaned all the rooms upstairs and made soup and bread ready for supper. The soup is completely made from roast chicken leftovers and veg from yesterday, so feeling very thrifty!

Even had time to work on the never-ending go-over. I am about 3rd of the way through and it is taking a very long time. I usually knit quick things like hats and baby clothes so it is a real labour of love to work on the G-O. It give myself a break and I am also working on a basketweave baby blanket for a friend who is due to have her baby in March. I have already completed a hat and booties for her.

I am going to take some photos and attempt to get them on here. I am usually rubbish at anything techno but I will have a go.

I love the new look on the KAS forum and the new pictures. It looks really bright and cheerful. Also loved the latest e-zine, Sandy has a real talent for producing such wonderful pieces.

Well, thats all for now, Freya is back from school and both the children are playing happily in the playroom so I should use this time to get on with some more chores.
    Cheerio!
  • How nice to have another blog to follow ! I read lots of blogs that I find on the web - mainly by people who knit or crochet for charity but it's great to read those by fellow KAS members.
I love your daughter's name - I have only ever known one other person called Freya. She was at school with me and we ended up at teacher's training college together. I stopped teaching 14 years ago at the age of 49, when my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's. I missed the stimulation and interaction with children for a long time after but gradually various hobbies made up for it.
I hope you continue to get a great deal of satisfaction from your knitting and knowing that you are contributing to such a worthwhile cause. Living on the coast of South Africa, in an area where there is even less structure for helping AIDS suffers than in Soweto, I am constantly made aware of the devastation this virus is causing in our country.

Hope the children loved their stories ! best wishes - Jen
