Nothing is more fun than a chance to get together with some of our Kas-sisters!  Since Gloria was passing through on her way out west, we managed to arrange an afternoon at the mall in Newmarket.

What a blast! We traded lots of hugs, lots of laughs, lots of tips on knitting and crocheting, tips on the best way to send parcels.... and lots of KASchat.

Wendy made a video ( edited and posted by her daughters Maddie and Amelia Murray).  By the way, you will notice that everyone is looking very industrious except me - I had good intentions but Wen and Glo absconded with my yarn so Glo could give Wen a lesson in Tunisian crochet.

You can find the video here

Here's the group - Christine Steeves, Wendy Lewis, Andrea Palmatier, Anne Powell, Gloria Grandy (Anne Connor wasn't able to join us as she was away for the weekend).  Gloria's wonderfully patient husband, Don, was here too but found mall-wandering preferable to crocheting.

We are planning another get-together on May31 when Linda and Dave Maltby will be here.  We are hoping Anne Connor will be able to join us (can't wait to meet her).  If anyone is within driving distance of Newmarket, Ontario, and can join us, please message me and I will send you details.

OH, how I hate to admit it, but I'm just a teeny bit jealous that I couldn't be a little mousey hiding in the skein of yarn on the table, and listening in to all the great instructions and sharing.     Love Anne Connor's striped squares, and that raspberry & green square that Andrea made, not mention those great textural "wheel in a square" ones that Linda does...... oh, yes, I'm jealous

We'll have to see what we can do about that Sharon...perhaps a Skype visit ??

It was a delightful afternoon...lots of chatting and laughter !

Okay ... short story :)  You know our Bev.  Sure! you all know our Bev.  She's one of our wonderful KASsisters in Australia!  Yes, that one!  Well it seems she has sisters, and one of those sisters lives in Canada ... British Columbia, actually.

Well, we went to BC on our trip and guess who we met up with.  Bev's sister Val!!!  What an incredibly wonderful evening Don and I had with Val and her husband John.  They are a fabulous couple and they couldn't have been more gracious hosts.  We enjoyed every minute of our visit, and we were even invited back (so I guess we must have minded our manners okay, too :).

But the best part is that they have promised to visit us in Nova Scotia if/when they get there!!!  Can't wait to see both of you again!!!  Thank you again for your kindness and your hospitality ... xo

Here's Val and me being very good and posing nicely for the camera :)  Actually, I'm holding onto Val so I don't fall backwards.  If I go ... you go too, girl!!!  LOL

Here we are ... well ... just havin' fun :))

And Val was kind enough to snap this panoramic view of Don and me :)

Thank you to Bev for facilitating our meeting  ... xo

What a very special trip you have had Gloria!

How lovely !

I agree, great photos and a new friend!

We SO loved meeting Gloria and Don and spending the evening together!! It was just TOO short!! Thanks to my wonderful sister Bev for putting us in touch! I so hope we will one day meet again Gloria!! Xo

I am just soooo thrilled that two very special people (and their 'other halves') were able to meet...and that you all had such a wonderful visit I knew you would.  :))

A huge thank you to Val and Ros for setting up 'facetime', so that we could all have a little 'face to face' special, having Val and Gloria sing 'happy birthday' to me.  xoxo

Thank you for wearing a pink top 'in my honour', if you did team it with a blue jacket!!!

Of course, now Ros has been on my case, again, about travelling to Canada..........just waiting for the under sea rail line to be completed and I'm there!!!....lolol

What an amazing small world it is!   Looks like you all had fun together; I bet Don & John enjoyed it, too.

And I bet you wore a pink shirt just so Bev would know you were thinking of her.

For anyone who might be wondering about the outcome of the Maple Leafs blanket, here is the finished product :)  When I got to Kevin's, he decided he would like to have the words "Toronto Maple Leafs" across the top.  I decided I could do it (not an easy task :) and managed to make up a pattern for the letters.

Unfortunately, I didn't have enough stitches to leave a good space between the words "Maple" and "Leaf" so they are a bit squished.  If I ever did it again (which I probably won't!) I would add more stitches to the blanket to have more space for the words.  In the end, though, Kevin likes it and that's what counts the most :))

No other words. Just WOOOOWWWW!!!!!
