Welcome to the 2019 KAS Blanket Room. We invite you to view many of the wonderful blankets that are made from our crafters efforts. Eight inch (20 cm) squares and completed blankets make their way to the KAS Barn and will eventually be featured on this discussion page. We hope that you might see one of your creations.
Many thanks to the crafters, gogos and sewing warriors that sew the squares into blankets.
Happy Viewing

Yes, aren't those grannies just gorgeous....makes me (almost) want to relearn past crocheting skills. :))
Wow, some beauties here! I love the blankets in photo’s 15 and 20, as I am a sucker for stripes, 20 is visually amazing!
Gosh, yes, no.20 is a real eye-catcher, which is quite a feat in amongst all those beauties.
I hope to send a blanket soon, just checking I can use the website ok.
Completed dimensions : 40" x 56". Warm, cozy, mainly acrylic, machine-washable, colourful and cheerful. Random shapes and patterns, secure seams. Send via surface mail in wrapped in plastic and labelled but never in cling film. No sheep's wool nor nylon, no hard knots and with decorative flourishes, little tufts and tactile edges for fun. Designed with these children in mind. Very experienced knitter. Creative Carol UK I am very low tec, now how to send this? Perhaps I could send some stash to a local person. UK incurs minimum postage. I hope to buy some merino or similar wool later for those with sensitive skin, which I also have. (UK resident). I have spent hours studying this subject (arts and crafts for the future), so can get on with the knitting and go straight to the websites and sources for inspiration and or supplies.
Hi Carol.
Lovely to hear from you and that you are working towards a blanket's worth of squares.
If you are needing more info re posting your parcel, here are a couple of links that will be useful....

Now my secret will be out and you will see how far behind in postings, I am, (16th April) but I wanted to share this note from Ronda, which I am sure she will be happy for me to do.....
More blanket pics ... some received back from Barb's "not-a-square" group
who take our mis-shapen squares and crochet to size them and create some
really lovely results.
We have sent many of their blanket pics in the past.
Yesterday Leanne Hunt and her daughter Tammy (visiting from UK where she has
been studying and lives now) helped me to photograph and fold all these
blankets to go on the shelves, which are filling up beautifully after our
big distribution on 6th April.
Mabel has packed up for a distribution today or tomorrow to 125 children ...
And there is a photograph (should be two, but one seems to have bounced off
the system) of my daughter Sian going onboard the ship Silversea in Cape
Town docks yesterday to collect the results of Linda Timmon's brainchild of
getting people onboard ship to knit for KAS ! I will be going to Cape Town
on 15th May to visit the family, and hopefully will bring back part of the
600 squares and soft toys made by this group.
In the meantime, Sian is hoping to get some friends in Cape Town to stitch
the squares into blankets and perhaps do a small distribution in Kyalitsha
which is a massive informal settlement along the N2 airport freeway in Cape
Town. If that happens, I may take any extra blankets down to the Cape from
here when I visit ?? We will see how that goes.
Sian said the on board ship group was very enthusiastic and she inspired
them further with some of the KAS anecdotes from the past - to keep on
knitting/crocheting !
She was also told that the cruiseline liked the idea so much that they
supplied 95% of the wool needed for the squares - how wonderful !
We are so touched by that.
There are still more to come from this date, plus the 'not a square' blankets, which I will post soon-ish....a day or so. You might think that some of the micro-striped ones are the same, I am hoping not. Weeded out a couple that I thought were copies, but I think there were just many made, put into many blankets. I was going dizzy after a while.....lol....but I LOVED those stripes. :))
Sensational selection. I love the white striped squares/blankets (there are loads of them, someone's dedicated or has really enjoyed themselves!!). The black and white mottled/swirly effect is fabulous too. Thank you Bev ❤️
sensational blankets! Delighted to hear that the cruise ladies did 600 squares wow! nearly 200 blankets worth.
