Happy August, everyone!

This is the one month in the year when I can take some time to breathe and relax - and do LOADS of knitting and crocheting!

It also means I am able to host a theme and spend a bit more time on the forum.

The KAS pattern book has a good selection of knitted and crocheted squares with different patterns and textures, for a starter. The wider Internet is alive with a rich variety of choices, if, like me you have a little more time this month and want to try some thing new.

So this is the month to rake through your stash and find all those weird bits and bobs of eyelash, fuzzy and pom-pom yarns that you never know what to do with!

Of course, this will then create space to buy some lovely new yarns...

Hopefully, that's whetted your appetite and got your creative juices flowing!

Let's see how many people are brave enough to try out at least ONE new stitch or technique this month.

As you upload your photos onto the main site, I will add them to our photo album for the month, which you can view here:

Happy creating!

Wow, what a pretty green, Rebecca.........LOVE that stitch.  :))

And here is a square that I am not entirely happy with the pattern of - it was inspired by the keyboard of a piano but I think I needed to have a black key at the left side........  It fits in here because I hope it will encourage the kiddy who gets this square to pretend to be playing the piano (I must confess it had that effect on me) and also because I put a textured border round the square.

Rebecca, both your squares are fabulous!  I like the green moss stitch, but my fave is the piano keys.  Well done! xo

Lovely squares, Rebecca! I love the idea of the piano keyboard!

This is such a great idea for touch theme Rebecca. I hope you will do more of these. hint, hint, hint...

Looks GREAT, Rebecca...what a FUN square.  :))

Thanks, Heather, for this wonderful fun theme.  It certainly inspired some great squares.  Like Louise, I have hidden my 'hairy' yarns at the very back of my stash cupboard, and I have my fingers crossed that they will not multiply.  Hope your re-entry to the rat race is not too bad.  Big Hugs!

Thanks, Anne! x x x x x

Anne, I'm sure if you check your stash....the hairy blighters will be on the increase already!!  lol

I decided to make another square using the swing needle technique.  Bev seemed to think that my pattern would look better in pink ... LOL

Well ... I wanted to try the same pattern (K3, P2) in two colors so I chose pink and purple.  I hope you don't mind, Bev  :)) xo

Absolutely beautiful, Glo! It looks really intricate and delicate and the colours are lovely together.

Me?....Mind?  My two fave colours in this gorgeous pattern....I think it's BRILLIANT!!!!! Soooooo pretty.  xo
