Happy August, everyone!

This is the one month in the year when I can take some time to breathe and relax - and do LOADS of knitting and crocheting!

It also means I am able to host a theme and spend a bit more time on the forum.

The KAS pattern book has a good selection of knitted and crocheted squares with different patterns and textures, for a starter. The wider Internet is alive with a rich variety of choices, if, like me you have a little more time this month and want to try some thing new.

So this is the month to rake through your stash and find all those weird bits and bobs of eyelash, fuzzy and pom-pom yarns that you never know what to do with!

Of course, this will then create space to buy some lovely new yarns...

Hopefully, that's whetted your appetite and got your creative juices flowing!

Let's see how many people are brave enough to try out at least ONE new stitch or technique this month.

As you upload your photos onto the main site, I will add them to our photo album for the month, which you can view here:

Happy creating!

Loving all your squares Louise! If you have become addicted to the 'fuzzy stuff', Joan will be relieved that you will be hanging on to it and not passing it on to her! :)) I feel sure your helpful KAS sisters will happily send you their 'hairy stash' too :)))

Thanks Chris, you've made me smile.  I'm sure I can be successfully weaned off my addiction at the end of this month.  I just have soooo much fuzzy stuff I need to use some of it, I certainly don't need anymore!!  LOL  :)))

I have some that you could have Louise !!!! I am battling with the green Fluffly balls at the moment, now they really are a nightmare :))) I see that you have mastered the art with your gorgeous fluffy squares xx
Joan, I wouldn't want to deprive you of your beloved fluffy/fuzzy/eyelash yarns......I'm sure you'll be ok with the green fluffy stuff....practice makes perfect so they say!! :))) xx

These squares are wonderful.   I think alternating the fuzzy stuff with regular yarn actually accents the fuzzy yarn.   I must get my hook going and copy you ... sincerest form of flattery.

Super squares, Louise. Love the color combination the orange and pink in particular. These colors look very well. together.

Gorgeous, Louise! I have some very similar fuzzy yarn somewhere in my stash - need to get cracking in earnest now I'm back from holiday. Got the little jacket and hat finished for my new grandchild, though!

Terrific to touch, to wear and to play with. The credit of the pattern in the variegated yarn hand-warmers goes to Andrea Palmatier who has written a wonderful article about "Colour Play". Thank you so much Andrea, I love to work with variegated yarn - but never really knew "how to" - thanks to your article and links to an article and a free e-book, working with it from now on has an extra dimension! Here is the link to Andrea's article: http://www.knit-a-square-southafrica.com/blog

Beautiful hand warmers! I too like to use varigated yarn it makes such gorgeous patterns.

Wow - these are so eye-catching, Anneke! And I spy a couple of interesting, textured squares lukring in the background...

Soooo bright and cheerful for the children, Anneke....just GORGEOUS!!! LOVE the oh-so-cute accompanying friends and those pretty, pastel, textured squares.  xo

Thank you so much for you compliments dear KAS friends! The squares are made in blanket stitch pattern, one of my favorite patterns for squares. :) xo
