Happy August, everyone!

This is the one month in the year when I can take some time to breathe and relax - and do LOADS of knitting and crocheting!

It also means I am able to host a theme and spend a bit more time on the forum.

The KAS pattern book has a good selection of knitted and crocheted squares with different patterns and textures, for a starter. The wider Internet is alive with a rich variety of choices, if, like me you have a little more time this month and want to try some thing new.

So this is the month to rake through your stash and find all those weird bits and bobs of eyelash, fuzzy and pom-pom yarns that you never know what to do with!

Of course, this will then create space to buy some lovely new yarns...

Hopefully, that's whetted your appetite and got your creative juices flowing!

Let's see how many people are brave enough to try out at least ONE new stitch or technique this month.

As you upload your photos onto the main site, I will add them to our photo album for the month, which you can view here:

Happy creating!

My attempts at a crochet square were frogged so many times I just gave up.  I knitted the square using a strand of DK yarn with the fluffy stuff, which did help a little but as you say a mistake is impossible to rectify.

All your squares are great.   They look so soft and inviting.   I'm sure the children will enjoy petting their fluffy square.

You get extra credit for making whole squares with fluffy yarns.

Louise deserves a crown for it. She conquered it. Bring more. All beautiful squares.  Thanks, Louise!

Three more lovely squares, Louise.....my fave just has to be the middle one (closely followed by the top......oooh, the colours are delish!!!!!!!

Thanks for your lovely comments ladies....I'm really enjoying this theme, I'm getting addicted to using the dreaded fuzzy stuff......help!!!!!

Yes, if you're getting addicted to that fuzzy stuff, you certainly do need help, Louise.....LOL

Today is Granny Square Day 2017.........here are my two contributions made with fuzzy yarn so I can include them in this theme.   The second square is made with purple DK (not blue as it looks in my photo)  and made as a thank you to Rob H for his recent donation to KAS.  :)))

Woo Hoo!! Two stunners, Louise!!! What super colour combos.  :))

Thanks Bev.   How's your fuzzy yarn blanket doing?  You're a braver woman than me, that's for sure.  :)))

No, I'm just cheating, Louise.......Only every second 'square' of each strip has fluffy stuff.....and even then it is done in alternating rows with a thick-ish yarn.  :))

Sounds good to me Bev....looking forward to the unveiling of the finished blanket but no pressure! Xx

I, too, am looking forward to your blanket, Bev!
